Ein Ziel ist die Verkleinerung der Leseköpfe von Festplatten, bei denen zur Zeit Flächen mit mehreren Mikrometern Ausdehnung zur Speicherung eines Bits beschrieben werden müssen. Das Volumen der weltweit ausgelieferten magnetischen Festplatten-Speicherkapazität steigt um ca. 40 % jährlich, alle drei Jahre verdoppelt sich die Speicherdichte [Si95]. Ein neues Konzept zum Erzielen höherer Speicherdichten ist etwa die von Chou et al. vorgeschlagene sogenannte "Quantendisk", bei der jedes Bit durch eine separate Einzeldomäne repräsentiert wird. Kapitel der vorliegenden Arbeit werden die Grundlagen zur Laser-Interferenzlithographie skizziert, deren experimentelle Seite zusammen mit der Einrichtung eines Reinraums im 2.Kapitel beschrieben wird.
