Alfred Music Publishing Company Suzuki Voice School, Volume 1 (International Edition)
Alfred Music Publishing Company Suzuki Voice School, Volume 1 (International Edition)
Teach voice with the popular Suzuki Voice School! The Suzuki Method® of Talent Education is based on Shinichi Suzuki's view that every child is born with ability, and that people are the product of their environment. According to Shinichi Suzuki, a world-renowned violinist and teacher, the greatest joy an adult can know comes from developing a child's potential so he/she can express all that is harmonious and best in human beings. Students are taught using the "mother-tongue" approach. Each series of books for a particular instrument in the Suzuki Method is considered a Suzuki music school, such as the Suzuki Voice School. Suzuki lessons are generally given in a private studio setting with additional group lessons. The student listens to the recordings and work with their Suzuki voice teacher to develop their potential as a musician and as a person. This Book & CD is integral for Suzuki voice lessons. This new Volume 1 features: * Engravings in a 9" x 12" format * Songs for children * Songs for parents * CD with piano accompaniments performed by Marjaana Merikanto. Random House N.Y. Big Asian Energy A1072951293
Random House N.Y. Big Asian Energy A1072951293
In his groundbreaking leadership book, John Wang, a top empowerment coach to Asian American professionals across Fortune 500 companies, offers research-backed guidance for Asian Americans to embody their most confident selves in business, relationships, and their everyday lives. Asians today are smashing box office records, winning Oscars, dominating global music charts, and reaching the office of vice president of the United States. Yet studies show Asian American professionals are still less likely to be promoted to leadership roles, and they struggle with self-confidence and self-criticism more than any other racial group. With Asian visibility now higher than it has been in decades, how can the new generation of Asian Americans finally step into our power? In his book, John Wang offers his unique framework for empowerment. He is an experienced leadership coach to the Asian American community who can help readers in every area of their lives. He has supported hundreds of clients from Google, American Express, Goldman Sachs, and other global companies, and his coaching videos have reached more than 25 million views on TikTok. Through proven exercises and successful client stories, he shows how cultural values like collectivism might make some avoid claiming credit in group projects, or how deference to elders creates communication issues. He sees Achievers and Fixers burning out, and Chameleons or Invisible Ones assimilating themselves into imposter syndrome. Instead of urging assimilation, Wang will show Asian Americans how to advocate for themselves on their own terms, through culturally informed guidance. Through his deeply relatable stories and his witty and disarming voice, John Wang offers a bold, moving, insightful, and practical guide. Big Asian Energy aims to teach readers to identify their authentic strengths and values, and to finally break through societal barriers.

Sweet Lo Press Becoming the Instrument A1062715133
Sweet Lo Press Becoming the Instrument A1062715133
Quincy Jones calls him, "My kind of musician." Herb Alpert praised him for helping him regain his musical voice after a fierce creative block. When he performed with Dizzy Gillespie... Werner mastered an effortless state of flow in his music. Kenny Werner has been a world-class pianist, composer, and teacher for 40 years. In 2010, Werner received the Guggenheim Fellowship Award for his seminal work, "No Beginning No End," a musical journey exploring tragedy and loss, death and transition, and the path from one lifetime to the next. Now he has coalesced his knowledge into Becoming the Instrument, the highly anticipated sequel to his landmark book, Effortless Mastery, which revolutionized how musicians approach their craft. In Becoming the Instrument, Werner shares how anyone can experience mastery, drawn from his experience as a musical master. It's the guide for seeing the highest in oneself and others. This new book is for anyone who wants to understand the fine art of mastery and how it applies to their own life. He brilliantly yet simply expresses how to lift one's perceptions from the mundane to a higher plane, and he does it with a sense of humor. The next level is attainable. "Mastery is not perfection, or even virtuosity. It is giving oneself love, forgiving one's mistakes, and not allowing earthly evidence to diminish one's view of oneself as a drop in the Ocean of Perfection." ¿ Kenny Werner Werner shows us how musicians and artists do it. He lifts the curtain on that mysterious process and shows how anyone, even businesspeople, can allow the "master creator" within to lift their performance to its highest level, showing us how to be spontaneous, fearless, joyful, and disciplined in our work and in our life. Are you ready for an inspiriting journey? You'll love this look at how he became top in his field, while explaining his process for the rest of us with absolute clarity in a way no one on that level has ever done before. Get it now.

HarperCollins The Collected Poems of J. R. R. Tolkien A1071306994
HarperCollins The Collected Poems of J. R. R. Tolkien A1071306994
Award-winning world first publication of the collected poems of J.R.R. Tolkien, spanning almost seven decades of the author's life and presented in an elegant three-volume hardback boxed set. Winner of the 2025 Mythopoeic Scholarship Award in Inkling Studies J.R.R. Tolkien aspired to be a poet in the first instance, and poetry was part of his creative life no less than his prose, his languages, and his art. Although Tolkien's readers are aware that he wrote poetry, if only from verses in The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, its extent is not well known, and its qualities are underappreciated. Within his larger works of fiction, poems help to establish character and place as well as further the story; as individual works, they delight with words and rhyme. They express his love of nature and the seasons, of landscape and music, and of words. They convey his humour and his sense of wonder. The earliest work in this collection, written for his beloved, is dated to 1910, when Tolkien was eighteen. More poems would follow during his years at Oxford, some of them very elaborate and eccentric. Those he composed during the First World War, in which he served in France, tend to be concerned not with trenches and battle, but with life, loss, faith, and friendship, his longing for England, and the wife he left behind. Beginning in 1914, elements of his legendarium, 'The Silmarillion', began to appear, and the 'Matter of Middle-earth' would inspire much of Tolkien's verse for the rest of his life. Within The Collected Poems of J.R.R. Tolkien almost 250 works are presented across three volumes, including more than 70 that have never before been seen. The poems are deftly woven together with commentary and notes by world-renowned Tolkien scholars Christina Scull & Wayne G. Hammond, placing them in the context of Tolkien's life and literary accomplishments and creating a poetical biography that is a unique and revealing celebration of J.R.R. Tolkien.

Resource Publications Poems for the Pastor
Resource Publications Poems for the Pastor
As a pastor, have you ever had a loss of words during those many trying moments in your ministry, when you found it difficult to express your true feelings? All of us have! Maybe the loneliness of being a pastor has, at times, simply overwhelmed you and you search for someone, anyone to offer you words of comfort and encouragement. Possibly, you've been without words to comfort those who are grieving or experiencing a deep hurt. Many times it could have been your own grief or deep hurt. Pastor Phipps, like any other pastor, has been there many times and he has a deep burden for all of you facing the many challenges of the pastorate. He wrote Poems for the Pastor to offer you special words of encouragement, words of hope, words of healing, and words you can share with others within your flock who need them the most. May these simple lines of verse, uniquely interwoven through Scripture, be a blessing to you, your family, and those under your tender care. Pastor Richard A. Phipps has served as Senior Pastor in Jacksonville, Florida; Severna Park, Maryland; and his current home of Knoxville, Tennessee. He holds a bachelor of science degree in business management and the Arabic language from the University of the State of New York and a master of arts degree in church ministry from Luther Rice Seminary. Prior to going into the full-time ministry, Pastor Phipps proudly served in the United States Navy as an Arabic linguist and retired in 1998 as a Master Chief Petty Officer. During those twenty-eight years of service to his country, he also served bi-vocationally at every duty station in music, administration, evangelism, and education ministry. He has had opportunities to help build the Kingdom in numerous states within our great country, as well as throughout the world in Greece, Spain, and Cyprus. He has three grown and wonderful children; however, his loving wife and ministry partner for nearly thirty-five years, Diane, lost her long battle with breast cancer and went home to be with the Lord on September 16, 2007.

Daily Mail Showbiz Memoir of the Year 'A beautiful book' Chris Evans 'Terrifically entertaining' Mail on Sunday 'An arresting photographic voyage through the life and loves of this enigmatic English star' S magazine 'Though not a conventional autobiography, we learn what makes the national treasure tick' Daily Express In the early days of my career, I didn't think I stood a hope in hell. Look at me: I'm short, stocky, slightly overweight, deep of voice, passionate, dark haired, olive skinned, hardly your typical Englishman. What chance did I have, going into the world of British theatre? David Suchet has been a stalwart of British stage and screen for fifty years. From Shakespeare to Oscar Wilde, Freud to Poirot, Edward Teller to Doctor Who, Harold Pinter to Terence Rattigan, Questions of Faith to Decline and Fall, right up to 2019's The Price, David has done it all. Throughout this spectacular career, David has never been without a camera, enabling him to vividly document his life in photographs. Seamlessly combining photo and memoir, Behind the Lens is the story of David's remarkable life, showcasing his wonderfully evocative photographs and accompanied by his insightful and engaging commentary. In Behind the Lens, David discusses his London upbringing and love of the city, his Jewish roots and how they have influenced his career, the importance of his faith, how he really feels about fame, his love of photography and music, and his processes as an actor. He looks back on his fifty-year career, including reflections on how the industry has changed, his personal highs and lows, and how he wants to be remembered. And, of course, life after Poirot and why he's still grieving for the eccentric Belgian detective. An autobiography with a difference, this is David Suchet as you've never seen him before - from behind the lens. 'The book offers more insight into the mind and philosophy of this remarkable man than a more conventional biographical approach could have achieved' Country Life

Get it now.

OTTO Belletristik The Collected Poems of J. R. R. Tolkien J. R. R. Tolkien
OTTO Belletristik The Collected Poems of J. R. R. Tolkien J. R. R. Tolkien
Award-winning world first publication of the collected poems of J.R.R. Tolkien, spanning almost seven decades of the author&#39,s life and presented in an elegant three-volume hardback boxed set. Winner of the 2025 Mythopoeic Scholarship Award in Inkling Studies J.R.R. Tolkien aspired to be a poet in the first instance, and poetry was part of his creative life no less than his prose, his languages, and his art. Although Tolkien&#39,s readers are aware that he wrote poetry, if only from verses in The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, its extent is not well known, and its qualities are underappreciated. Within his larger works of fiction, poems help to establish character and place as well as further the story, as individual works, they delight with words and rhyme. Beginning in 1914, elements of his legendarium, &#39,The Silmarillion&#39,, began to appear, and the &#39,Matter of Middle-earth&#39, would inspire much of Tolkien&#39,s verse for the rest of his life. Within The Collected Poems of J.R.R. Tolkien almost 250 works are presented across three volumes, including more than 70 that have never before been seen. The poems are deftly woven together with commentary and notes by world-renowned Tolkien scholars Christina Scull &, Wayne G. Hammond, placing them in the context of Tolkien&#39,s life and literary accomplishments and creating a poetical biography that is a unique and revealing celebration of J.R.R. Tolkien.

Stanford University Press ¡Tequila! A1034139911
Stanford University Press ¡Tequila! A1034139911
Italy has grappa, Russia has vodka, Jamaica has rum. Around the world, certain drinks-especially those of the intoxicating kind-are synonymous with their peoples and cultures. For Mexico, this drink is tequila. For many, tequila can conjure up scenes of body shots on Cancún bars and coolly garnished margaritas on sandy beaches. Its power is equally strong within Mexico, though there the drink is more often sipped rather than shot, enjoyed casually among friends, and used to commemorate occasions from the everyday to the sacred. Despite these competing images, tequila is universally regarded as an enduring symbol of lo mexicano. ¡Tequila! Distilling the Spirit of Mexico traces how and why tequila became and remains Mexico's national drink and symbol. Starting in Mexico's colonial era and tracing the drink's rise through the present day, Marie Sarita Gaytán reveals the formative roles played by some unlikely characters. Although the notorious Pancho Villa was a teetotaler, his image is now plastered across the labels of all manner of tequila producers-he's even the namesake of a popular brand. Mexican films from the 1940s and 50s, especially Western melodramas, buoyed tequila's popularity at home while World War II caused a spike in sales within the whisky-starved United States. Today, cultural attractions such as Jose Cuervo's Mundo Cuervo and the Tequila Express let visitors insert themselves into the Jaliscan countryside-now a UNESCO-protected World Heritage Site-and relish in the nostalgia of pre-industrial Mexico. Our understanding of tequila as Mexico's spirit is not the result of some natural affinity but rather the cumulative effect of U.S.-Mexican relations, technology, regulation, the heritage and tourism industries, shifting gender roles, film, music, and literature. Like all stories about national symbols, the rise of tequila forms a complicated, unexpected, and poignant tale. By unraveling its inner workings, Gaytán encourages us to think critically about national symbols more generally, and the ways in which they both reveal and conceal to tell a story about a place, a culture, and a people. In many ways, the story of tequila is the story of Mexico.

Vermilion Maskerade A1063153354
Discover the gloriously inventive and funny fantasy novel from bestselling author Terry Pratchett, the fifth book in the Witches series, part of the Discworld novels. 'A master storyteller' A. S. Byatt ' An excellent mystery whodunnit...Terry Pratchett at his very best - wonderful humour combined with a really good read' 5-star reader review 'There's a kind of magic in masks. Masks conceal one face, but they reveal another. The one that only comes out in darkness . . .' The Opera House in Ankh-Morpork is home to music, theatrics and a harmless masked Ghost who lurks behind the scenes. But now, a set of mysterious backstage murders may just stop the show. Agnes Nitt has left her rural home of Lancre in the hopes of launching a successful singing career in the big city. The only problem is, she doesn't quite look the part. And there are two witches who would much rather she return home to join their coven. Granny Weatherwax and Nanny Ogg have travelled to Ankh-Morpork to convince Agnes that life as a witch is much better than one on the stage. Only now they're caught up in a murder mystery featuring masks and maniacal laughter. And the show MUST go on . . . Maskerade is the fifth book in the Witches series, but you can read the Discworld novels in any order. Wodehouse' The Sunday Telegraph 'Nothing short of magical ' Chicago Tribune 'Consistently funny , consistently clever and consistently surprising in its twists and turns' SFX '[Discworld is] compulsively readable, fantastically inventive , surprisingly serious exploration in story form of just about any aspect of our world...
