Bachelorarbeit aus dem Jahr 2018 im Fachbereich BWL - Rechnungswesen, Bilanzierung, Steuern, Note: 2,0, Hochschule für Technik, Wirtschaft und Kultur Leipzig (Wirtschaftswissenschaft), Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Das Ziel dieser Arbeit ist, die Grundsätze zur Leasingbilanzierung aufzuarbeiten, um im Nachgang diese Erkenntnisse an der aktuellen Leasingreform zu reflektieren. Dabei werden die Auswirkungen auf Unternehmen und die auftretende Konvergenz zwischen IASB und FASB dargestellt. Der ehemalige Vorsitzende des IASB, Sir David Tweedie, prägte mit seinem Zitat: "One of my great ambitions before I die is to fly in an aircraft that is on an airline¿s balance sheet." die Debatte zur Leasingreform. Mit diesem Satz kritisiert Tweedie die bestehenden Vorschriften zur Leasingfinanzierung. Vor allem die Luftfahrtindustrie nutzt diese Missstände für ihre Bilanzpolitik aus, indem sie ihre gesamte Flugzeugflotte least, um so ihre Bilanz zu verschönern. Aus dieser Kritik lässt sich die implizierte Aufforderung an die Standardsetter ableiten, dass eine Neuregelung zur Leasingbilanzierung nötig ist, um eine realitätsnahe Betrachtung von Unternehmensbilanzen zu ermöglichen. Des Weiteren kommt es durch die Veränderung der Bedingungen in der Unternehmensfinanzierung zu einer stetigen Neuausrichtung, welche die traditionellen Finanzierungsformen ergänzt. Dabei ist Leasing eine Alternative zum klassischen Bankkredit eröffnet für den Mittelstand. Jedoch wirft die vermehrte Nutzung von alternierenden Instrumenten immer die Frage auf, ob die bestehenden Regelungen in jedem Falle sinnvoll, gerecht und schlüssig sind. Um diese Fragen zu beantworten und den Forderungen Tweedies nachzukommen, begannen das FASB und der IASB im Juli 2009 ein Projekt zur Reformierung der Leasingbilanzierung. Hierbei bestand das Hauptziel in der Formulierung einer einheitlichen Regelung zur Bilanzierung von Leasingverhältnissen und die Abschaffung der außerbilanziellen Erfassung dieser. Im Zeitverlauf des Projektes bildete sich der konzeptionelle Ansatz des right-of-use heraus, welcher den bestehenden risk-and-reward-Ansatz ersetzen sollte. Aufgrund der unterschiedlichen Vorstellungen zu den Details kam es dazu, dass die Standardsetter jeweils einen eigenen Standard zur Neuregelung von Leasingverhältnissen publizierten.
