Jahrhunderts v. Chr.? Hier muss dann auch gefragt werden, inwieweit moderne Begriffe wie Einzel-, Zwischen-, Groß-, Immobilien- Geldhandel auf das Wirtschaftsleben der Antike überhaupt übertragen werden können. Es sollen die Importgüter, die etwa im Piräus ausgeladen, weiter gehandelt und transportiert wurden und die attischen Exportgüter, die nach auswärts gingen, genannt werden. Die Frage soll gestellt werden, ob sich die Menge bestimmter Import- und Exportgüter bestimmen lässt. Es soll auf eine mögliche Außenhandelspolitik Athens eingegangen werden. Gab es Import- oder Exportverbote? Wurden Importe oder Exporte mengenmäßig begrenzt? Inwieweit förderte der Staat mit Hilfe von Einfuhrverträgen oder Rechtshilfeverträgen den Import von notwendigen Gütern? Gab es Schutz- oder Finanzzölle? Desweiteren soll die Funktion des "polemarchos", des "prostates" und des "proxenos" erläutert werden. Schließlich wird noch die Frage gestellt, ob - modern gesprochen - Handels- oder Zahlungsbilanzen im 5. oder 4. Jahrhundert v. Chr. irgendwo statistisch festgehalten wurden.
