The Adventure of the Three Garridebs (1924), one of the 56 Sherlock Holmes short stories written by British author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, is one of 12 stories in the cycle collected as The Case-Book of Sherlock Holmes.According to Dr. Watson's opening narration, this story is set at "the latter end of June, 1902 ... the same month that Holmes refused a knighthood for services which may perhaps some day be described." This is a parallel to the knighthood of Arthur Conan Doyle around the same time. Holmes receives a letter from a Nathan Garrideb of 136 Little Ryder Street, asking for help in a most peculiar quest. He is looking for another man with his unusual surname, for it will mean a $5 million inheritance for him. He has been approached by another man, John Garrideb of Kansas, who says that he needs to find others with the same last name. The American Garrideb comes to see Holmes and Watson at 221B Baker Street, and is apparently not very pleased that Nathan Garrideb has involved a detective. Garrideb, who claims to be a lawyer, spins a ridiculous story about Alexander Hamilton Garrideb, a millionaire land tycoon he met in Kansas. Hamilton Garrideb bequeathed his $15 million estate to John Garrideb on the provision that he find two more Garridebs to share it with equally. He came to England to seek out people with the name, having failed in his own country. So far, he has found only Nathan...Famous works of the author Arthur Conan Doyle: A Study in Scarlet, The Sign of the Four, The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes, The Hound of the Baskervilles, The Return of Sherlock Holmes, The Valley of Fear, His Last Bow, The Case-Book of Sherlock Holmes, Stories of Sherlock Holmes, The Lost World.

Strelbytskyy Multimedia Publishing Five Orange Seeds A1071063582
Five Orange Seeds is the fifth of 12 stories in The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes. In March 1883, Colonel Elias Openshaw received a letter from Pondicherry, India, containing only 5 orange seeds and the letters "K. K.K." The colonel's behavior became strange: he either locked himself in his room and drank, or shouted. On May 2, 1883, he was found dead in the garden. The colonel's nephew, young John Openshaw, turns to Sherlock Holmes...
Februar 1888. Vergleichbare Details sind zum Beispiel die Schlacht von Maiwand ("Das Musgrave-Ritual"), das erste Elektrizitätswerk ("Das gesprenkelte Band") oder der sagenumwobene Tod des bayerischen Königs Ludwig II ("Der niedergelassene Patient"). (Eric Zerm, Manuskriptautor)

Holmes, whose talent for deduction was modelled on the skill of Doyle's professor, Dr. Joseph Bell, first appeared in the full-length novel, A Study in Scarlet, in 1887. While Doyle wrote other works of fiction and non-fiction, none of those captured the public's imagination in the same way as consulting detective Sherlock Holmes and his friend and chronicler, Dr. John Watson, who have become one of the most well-known detective duos in literature. Later in life, Doyle became a prominent public figure, known for his humanitarian campaigns and his controversial interest in spiritualism. His legacy endures in the enduring popularity of Sherlock Holmes and the countless adaptations inspired by his work. This audiobook is fully indexed. Ignatius Audiobooks The "Gloria Scott" A1069831293
"The Gloria Scott", one of the 56 Sherlock Holmes short stories written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, is one of 12 stories in the cycle collected as The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes. It is chronologically the earliest case in Sherlock Holmes canon. This story is related mainly by Holmes rather than Watson, and is the first case to which Holmes applied his powers of deduction, having treated it as a mere hobby until this time. This is one of the two Sherlock Holmes stories in which a protagonist is haunted by an old acquaintance for an old crime. The other is "The Boscombe Valley Mystery". It is also one of his many stories that deal with the fate of characters who return to England after having spent time abroad in the colonies of the British Empire. In his university days, Holmes spent a month with his friend, Victor Trevor, at Victor's father's estate in Norfolk. While there, Holmes amazed his host, Victor's father, who was a Justice of the Peace and a landowner. He had made his fortune in the goldfields in Australia. One of Holmes's deductions was that the elder Mr. Trevor was once connected with someone with the initials "J. A." whom he wanted to forget. His host then passed out on the table. Holmes had touched a sore spot, and possibly did not believe the old man's explanation once he had come back to himself that J. A. had been an old lover.
Wordsworth Editions Ltd A Study in Scarlet & The Sign of the Four A1002589167
With an Introduction by David Stuart Davies. 'Doctor Watson, Mr Sherlock Holmes' - The most famous introduction in the history of crime fiction takes place in Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's A Study in Scarlet, bringing together Sherlock Holmes, the master of science detection, and John H. Watson, the great detective's faithful chronicler. This novel not only establishes the magic of the Holmes myth but also provides the reader with a dramatic adventure yarn which ranges from the foggy, gas-lit streets of London to the burning plains of Utah. The Sign of the Four, the second Holmes novel, presents the detective with one of his greatest challenges. The theft of the Agna treasure in India forms a catalyst for treachery, deceit and murder. With these two classic novels, A Study in Scarlet and The Sign of the Four, you have the brilliant foundation of the Sherlock Holmes canon. Reading pleasure rarely comes any finer.
Ignatius Audiobooks The Musgrave Ritual A1069831294

The story was originally published in Strand Magazine in 1919, and was collected later in The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes. Unlike the majority of Holmes stories, the main narrator is not Doctor Watson, but Sherlock Holmes himself. With Watson providing an introduction, the story within a story is a classic example of a frame tale. It is one of the earliest recorded cases investigated by Holmes, and establishes his problem solving skills. In the story, Holmes recounts to Watson the events arising after a visit from a university acquaintance, Reginald Musgrave. Musgrave visits Holmes after the disappearance of two of his domestic staff, Rachel Howells, a maid, and Richard Brunton, the longtime butler. The pair vanished after Musgrave had dismissed Brunton for secretly reading a family document, the Musgrave Ritual. The Ritual, which dates from the 17th century, is a riddle set in question/response form.
