Test: Einzeltest: ASUS M4A89TD PRO/USB3 Socket AM3 Motherboard
Zitat: One of the best things about the ASUS M4A89TD Pro/USB3 is its overclocking ability. To this day it is arguably the best overclocking AMD equipped motherboard to have been tested here. We were amazed to see the HTT frequency hit over 300MHz, and with the ease it did so as well. There is no doubt with more time and tweaking we could see it even crush that 309MHz. The second half of our overclocking session went towards trying to get the highest overall frequency and it went pretty well in that area too. Our run-of-the-mill Phenom II 965BE managed a very respectable 4128Mhz, just coming up short of a stable 4200MHz. ASUS provides so many ways to overclock, for the novice as well as the expert, in order to gain that extra performance from their system. CPU Level Up may be the easiest because it only takes selecting what processor you was to copy and the system does the rest. Other options are Turbo Locker and Auto Tune. Our method was a combined effort of using the BIOS and TurboV, which while it isn´t included, is well worth popping over to ASUS´ website for. For those with processors that are known to have unlockable cores, ASUS added the Core Locker feature, which you do not even have to enter the BIOS to enable. Simply pressing F4 during boot up is all it takes. The M4A89TD is aesthetically pleasing with it´s different shades of blues and gray which react nicely with the dark PCB. The rest of the layout we believe have some minor quirks, but nothing that should keep you from building a nice rig. One of them was the placement of the aux 8-pin power connector, which is stuck behind the power regulator heat sink. The second was the placement of the SATA connectors which was divided into two sets and not at a more desirable right angle. The added JMicron-controlled IDE plug is right angled and we could have done with out that, instead replaced by the right angled SATA plugs If you are looking for the perfect benching motherboard, or a motherboard to build a nice gaming rig around and don´t want to pay out the back-side for it, you really can´t go wrong with the ASUS M4A89TD Pro/USB3.
