Testurteil: "4 out of 5"
Test: Einzeltest: BenQ W1080ST projector
Zitat: The bad: - While the W1080ST excels at its main priority, BenQ has also stuffed in a 10W speaker to try and offer you the complete cinema package. The speaker is simply terrible, though, giving hardly any clarity and tinny sound that is best avoided. The projector does offer an audio-out port for hooking up your own speakers, making it easy to get access to better sound, but that does up the costs, especially if you don´t already own a decent set of speakers. BenQ has packed in 3D powers into the W1080ST, although you won´t find any 3D glasses in the box; you´ll have to fork out more money to get a pair of suitable active shutter glasses. Given the drop in popularity of 3D and the W1080ST´s budget price, it´s no surprise to see glasses excluded, and it´s only useful if you´ve also got 3D hardware anyway. The W1080ST´s build quality, unfortunately, also feels relatively cheap and very plastic, especially for the price. While it is a budget projector, £850 is still a lot of money to plonk down on anything, and we wish BenQ would have made the W1080ST feel more substantial. Still, if you´re planning on using it as a full-time projector at home, that´s not too much of a concern, but be wary if you´re thinking about taking it on the go often. Read our review of the BenQ GP10 projector! Is this the ultimate projector?
BenQ has crafted a versatile projector that´s capable of beaming almost anything you can hook up at a short range, and at a high quality too. If you get excited for movie nights at home, the W1080ST could be the perfect addition to watching your favourite flicks, and it works great for gaming too. You get plenty of bang for your buck for £850, although that price could go up and up if you lack speakers and you´re itching for 3D. Still, for a budget full HD projector, you can´t go far wrong with BenQ´s W1080ST, as it grants you an instant cinema in a box.
