Test: Einzeltest: Logitech Ultimate Ears UE 4000
Zitat: The good: + Logitech has created a distinctive pair of lightweight headphones that sit comfortably on your head and come in a rainbow of different colours, including basic black and white versions as well as a striking purple that will surely get you noticed on the street. Whether you go for the bold or the subtle, you´ll be treated to the same sturdy, plastic construction with synthetic leather ear pads on them. You might not notice at first as it matches the rest of the headband, but the upper-most part is made of a soft rubbery material that helps cushion the headphones on on top of your head as well as providing more grip, meaning they won´t fall off on a jog or if you get carried away with your head bopping. The sound itself from the headphones is warm and extremely bass-heavy, and depending on your taste of music, that can be either a positive or a negative. That said, overall sound was clear, vocals were easy to hear, acoustic guitars sounded pleasant and even classical sounded easy on the ears. Alongside the actual headphones in the box, Logitech has also provided a carry bag and a headphone splitter: perfect for sharing your tunes with friends on a trip and is a welcome addition that you wouldn´t usually expect to be bundled in with a pair of headphones.
The bad: - Logitech has focused on the basics with this model, and we can´t fault it for making a simple pair of headphones, but we do wish that they could fold up when stashing them in a bag. While there´s an included travel bag, we feel it doesn´t provide adequate protection, and when you´re spending £80 on a pair of headphones, you want to make sure they´ll be well protected, even in the depths of your bag. While we´re a fan of the detachable cable with an in-line mic and controls that makes it a pinch to replace, at times we did feel it was too long and could easily snag on objects in our day-to-day life. When it comes to actually using the in-line remote for a call, people on the other line often complained that they were not able to hear us, and thanks to the closed nature of the headphones, it´s also hard to hear yourself.
Logitech´s UE 4000 headphones are another respectable pair of cans in the style sector, but these don´t just offer good looks, but a decent quality of sound for your cash too. If you´re not wanting to fork out a ton of money for the more expensive Beats by Dre range, these might just be what you´re after: they´re comfortable, lightweight and won´t fall off during a jog. If you´ve got £80 to spend on a pair of headphones, the UE 4000s wouldn´t be a bad investment - just make sure you skip the purple colour if you don´t want the stares.
