Test: Einzeltest: Nikkor AF 28mm f/2.8 D (FX)
Zitat: The Nikkor AF-D 28mm f/2.8 shows very good to excellent sharpness in the image center. The image borders and corners are very soft wide open, though, and stay quite a bit behind the image center, even stopped down.
In addition, vignetting is on a rather high level at large apertures. CAs are also quite pronounced, especially stopped down. However they are easy to correct in post processing. Bokeh is not stellar either.
So, in summary the lens does not convince by its optical quality, but more by its compact size, low weight and rather low price. For certain applications (for example street photography) these advantages probably outweigh its optical shortcomings.
