Handig is het zeer bruikbare toegangsgat om de backplate van een cpu-koeler te monteren, en ook de mogelijkheid om een ssd of andere 2½"-drive vast te schroeven is mooi meegenomen. De sterke punten zijn daarmee wel goeddeels opgesomd, en hiertegenover staan legio nadelen. Dat begint bij de prestaties: de koelprestaties zijn minder dan die van de goedkopere Antec Three Hundred. maar Element T is wel iets mindere luidruchtig dan de Antec-kast. Die laatste kast doet het op andere punten weer wat minder, maar dan blijft al met al toch onduidelijk wat nu de meerprijs van de Element T rechtvaardigt. In de accessoires zit het hem in ieder geval niet, want veel levert de fabrikant niet mee; zo worden er slechts twee clips om drives te bevestigen in de doos gestopt. Het ontbreken van een stoffilter voor de voeding en het niet meespuiten van de binnenzijde tellen we eveneens bij de minpunten. In enige vorm van kabelmanagement is niet voorzien, en hier en daar zou een iets betere afwerking - niet alleen van scherpe randjes, maar ook van de deurtjes - tot een beter product geleid hebben.

If you want a chassis with a bunch of airflow, and don’t want to mod one, Thermaltake offers you the basic platform for just such a build. Pick your favorite brand fan, or the cheapest thing with red LED’s, it doesn’t matter, the choice is yours to make. What Thermaltake gives you is a black chassis with attractive, simple lines, and lets you be the mod artist. The fans included, being the 200mm fan up top, and the 120mm for exhaust, provide ample enough air flow for the basic build. Since the front is all mesh, convection works its magic and keeps things at comfortable levels. If you plan to build an overclocked sleeper, you are going to want to add some air flow, as we know things can get quite toasty once we start pushing voltages. I would suggest if looking to grab the Element T, plan ahead with a few spares, or buy a couple to add to the build. My time with the Element T was surprising and pleasurable; no cuts or odd flimsy parts. While the tool-less clips could use some work on being able to move, for the price required to have it, I can let things slide. I do look at it as if it were a more expensive chassis as far as what it offers, and to be honest, it offers quite a bit in just its basic design without having to fill it full of “trinkets” to win me over. Shipping is always going to be a pain, and the fact that most e-tailers get twenty to thirty dollars to ship one doesn’t help, but hey, it’s part of the game we play. That aside, the Element T can be had at Newegg for $71.99 and for that price, even I am sold. Next time I’m asked about a good mid tower chassis with a ton of potential, the Element T is what my fingers are going to type in response.

The case consists of the very popular mesh front panel that is very successful right now. What we like most about it is the deep black look that it shares with the other two Element models and the ability to house a lot of drives. We also like the large red LED 200mm fan that sits atop the case. It was reasonably quiet and added a nice visual look to the case. For anyone that needs more than the two fans that come with the case, you have the ability to add several more in the front and side of the case. We did not like the noise created by the vibration of the drives against the metal of the case. And we don´t understand why Thermaltake made one of each of the drive bays tool-less. Installation would have been easier and less time consuming. But besides that, they Element T is a very decent case.
