Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2012 im Fachbereich Geschichte - Weltgeschichte - Frühgeschichte, Antike, Note: 1,3, Georg-August-Universität Göttingen (Seminar für Ägyptologie und Koptologie), Veranstaltung: Bereiche der ägyptischen Kulturgeschichte A: Ägyptische Religionen (Ägyptologie), Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: In der folgenden Arbeit werde ich die Göttin Isis vorstellen. Dabei werde ich im ersten Abschnitt der Arbeit auf den Osiris Mythos eingehen, da hier die Wurzeln des Isiskultes zu finden sind. Unterdessen werde ich vorher thematisieren inwieweit wir von einem Mythos sprechen können und ob der Begriff des Mythos geklärt werden muss. Der Hauptteil der Arbeit, werden jedoch die verschiedenen Funktionen der Isis sein, inwieweit sich die Göttin entwickelt hat, was geblieben ist, was sich verändert hat und was zu der Ausbreitung des Kultes beigetragen hat. Schließlich werde ich verschiedene Quellen betrachten, in denen Isis auftritt. Der letzte Abschnitt meiner Arbeit wird sich mit der Isis außerhalb Ägyptens beschäftigen. Denn aus Griechenland und Rom liegen uns erstaunlich viele Quellen vor.

Der kulturelle Spaziergang ist keine Kulturgeschichte Ägyptens. Die Gegenwartsbezüge sind stets präsent und auf die kommt es letztendlich an. In der langen, ereignisreichen ägyptischen Geschichte spielte die Religion eine dominante Rolle. Sie war und ist das Fundament, auf dem alles entstand, florierte und verwelkte. Ägypten ist und bleibt im Würgegriff der Religion. Wer seine Kulturgeschichte verstehen will, kommt also nicht umhin, sich mit der Religion auseinanderzusetzen. Das Land ist mit den drei monotheistischen Religionen eng verflochten. Die bedeutenden biblischen und koranischen Geschichten nehmen direkten Bezug auf Ägypten oder spielen dort. Obwohl solche, von Menschenhand erschaffene Geschichten konstruierte Gebilde sind, ohne jedwede historische Substanz, prägen sie nach wie vor das Leben der Menschen und verhindern ihre freie Entwicklung. Daher müssen die „heiligen“ Geschichten zuerst entheiligt werden. Der Islam hat keine Aufklärungsphase erlebt, dabei hätte er sie nötiger denn je. Er erhebt einen universellen Anspruch und wehrt sich vehement gegen eine Trennung von Staat und Religion. Wie ließe sich im Lichte dessen das Versagen des politischen Systems in den letzten 60 Jahren erklären? Es schaffte den Nährboden für den religiösen Fundamentalismus, der in Ägypten entstand und dort noch floriert. Welche schäbige Rolle spielte der Westen in dieser Tragödie? Warum musste der arabische Frühling scheitern? Der kulturelle Spaziergang kann solche Fragen nicht beantworten, aber er kann helfen, Hintergründe und Zusammenhänge besser zu verstehen.
