Xero Shoes Aqua Cloud Herren Sandalen – Minimalistische Wassersandalen mit extra griffiger Sohle – Schwarz, Größe 46 EU 3010739-019
GET WET & WILD: Adventure-ready minimalist shoes that aren’t afraid to get wet! We’ve taken our ever-popular Cloud sandals, updated them with a grippier 6.5mm FeelTrue sole, and created barefoot sandals for men with extra traction. Take them paddleboarding, kayaking, canoeing, hiking, running, or strolling, and get the grip you need without losing the natural feel. And at a weight of just 5.2oz for men’s 9, Aqua Clouds float on water! This means you’ll never lose them to the lake or ocean. THE FLIP FLOP KILLER: So comfortable you’ll forget you have them on; so versatile you won’t want to wear anything else. Xero Shoes are known for comfort, but our new Aqua Clouds take it to a whole new level. The embedded, textured 3mm BareFoam layer now spans the entire footbed, while a shaped heel cup helps keep out debris. And just like the original Clouds, these hiking water shoes for men stay secured with our patented, pressure point-eliminating huarache-style lacing system. VEGAN SANDALS WITH A CONSCIENCE: These are more than just adventure-fueling, feet-pampering water sandals for men; they are a testament to earth-friendly sustainability. Our lightweight barefoot shoes are proudly vegan, which means no animal products are used in construction. We’re also making more of our shoes with fast-growing, sustainable materials and transitioning to using recycled products. All in an effort to reduce our carbon footprint and take better care of our beautiful planet. FEEL THE WORLD: Beach sandals inspired by nature: that’s what separates Aqua Clouds from all the rest. We designed them to give you the fun and freedom of natural, barefoot movement with just the right amount of protection to take you wherever you want to go. And the secret behind the freedom? Our patented FeelTrue sole that lets feet bend and flex naturally, a low-to-the-ground design that allows you to connect to the world, and a wide toe box that gives toes room to spread. 5012 SOLE MILES GUARANTEE: Sand or tarmac, grass or ground, Xero Shoes are engineered to perform. Our FeelTrue Soles are not only extremely flexible and responsive, but also made to last. That’s why they’re backed by our 5,000-mile sole warranty. We also take great pride in supporting people in the developing world who need footwear for work and school through donations to Soles for Souls and One World Running programs. Get your pair and start living life feet first!

Penguin Publishing Group Combat-Ready Kitchen A1035556720
Penguin Publishing Group Combat-Ready Kitchen A1035556720
Americans eat more processed foods than anyone else in the world. We also spend more on military research. These two seemingly unrelated facts are inextricably linked. If you ever wondered how ready-to-eat foods infiltrated your kitchen, you'll love this entertaining romp through the secret military history of practically everything you buy at the supermarket. In a nondescript Boston suburb, in a handful of low buildings buffered by trees and a lake, a group of men and women spend their days researching, testing, tasting, and producing the foods that form the bedrock of the American diet. If you stumbled into the facility, you might think the technicians dressed in lab coats and the shiny kitchen equipment belonged to one of the giant food conglomerates responsible for your favorite brand of frozen pizza or microwavable breakfast burritos. So you'd be surprised to learn that you've just entered the U.S. Army Natick Soldier Systems Center, ground zero for the processed food industry. Ever since Napoleon, armies have sought better ways to preserve, store, and transport food for battle. As part of this quest, although most people don't realize it, the U.S. military spearheaded the invention of energy bars, restructured meat, extended-life bread, instant coffee, and much more. But there's been an insidious mission creep: because the military enlisted industry-huge corporations such as ADM, ConAgra, General Mills, Hershey, Hormel, Mars, Nabisco, Reynolds, Smithfield, Swift, Tyson, and Unilever-to help develop and manufacture food for soldiers on the front line, over the years combat rations, or the key technologies used in engineering them, have ended up dominating grocery store shelves and refrigerator cases. TV dinners, the cheese powder in snack foods, cling wrap . . . The list is almost endless. Now food writer Anastacia Marx de Salcedo scrutinizes the world of processed food and its long relationship with the military-unveiling the twists, turns, successes, failures, and products that have found their way from the armed forces' and contractors' laboratories into our kitchens. In developing these rations, the army was looking for some of the very same qualities as we do in our hectic, fast-paced twenty-first-century lives: portability, ease of preparation, extended shelf life at room temperature, affordability, and appeal to even the least adventurous eaters. In other words, the military has us chowing down like special ops. What is the effect of such a diet, eaten-as it is by soldiers and most consumers-day in and day out, year after year? We don't really know. We're the guinea pigs in a giant public health experiment, one in which science and technology, at the beck and call of the military, have taken over our kitchens.

Random House N.Y. How to Shit in the Woods A1055535679
“Kathleen Meyer has contributed to environmental awareness while lending a grand old English word the respectability that it hasn’t had since Chaucer’s day.” —Frank Graham Jr. , Audubon magazine “As a philosophy of life, built on the profound interconnection between self and nature, How to Shit in the Woods is clearly the definitive text on the subject.” —Gail D. Storey , author of the award-winning I Promise Not to Suffer: A Fool for Love Hikes the Pacific Crest Trail “Meyer’s little book should be essential reading for everyone who goes into the outdoors. It should be given to everyone who takes part in any outdoors adventure course and it should be on the curriculum of every school where outdoor education is taught.” —Cameron McNeish, British mountaineer, lecturer, broadcaster, and author I was convulsed! Everyone loves shit, really.” —Malachy McCourt, actor, raconteur extraordinaire, and author of the New York Times bestseller A Monk Swimming “This is the most important environmental book of the decade.” —W. David Laird , Books of the Southwes t [1989] “Hey; this is the real shit.” —the late, great Galen Rowell, outdoor photographer and writer “Bully for Kathleen Meyer. [Her] writing is earthy and her humor dry. How to Shit in the Woods often takes poetic flight in the oddest of places. In Meyer’s hands, so to speak, shit can be sublime.” —Andy Smetanka, Missoula Independent “The ultimate title in the genre.” —Penthouse magazine “This is a great book! I wholeheartedly agree with Ms. Meyer's environmental concerns . . . ” —Linda Svendsen, Director of Boojum Expeditions “This book should be on the reference shelf or camping kit of every canoe and safari operator, angler, rock climber, and wanderer in the wilderness . . . [it] may help insure that our wild places remain uncontaminated for the benefit of generations to come.” —Geof Calvert and Verity Mundy from Famona, Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, The Farmer “Doesn't take the reader long to get used to THAT word, or to concede that the well-prepared book is a critical woodcraft manual.” —Lee Straight, BC Outdoors “Luckily; people such as Meyer are ready to tell us how to deal with this problem and, even luckier, the solution is not complicated.” —Ben Ling, Salt Lake City Tribune “There is no easy way to say this: You have to learn how to properly defecate in the woods . . . . Fortunately, former river guide Kathleen Meyer is less squeamish than the rest of us, and has written an authoritative and entertaining book .” —USA Today “Victorian sensibilities and euphemisms be damned, Kathleen Meyer, river runner and longtime outdoorswoman, has something important to say about a tittering subject.” —Grace Brown, Women's Outdoor Journal “Going where no one has gone before is more than just the Star Trek motto . . . . Meyer leaves no stones unturned explaining the dos and don’ts of proper excretory techniques.” —Roger Vargo, Ecological 4-Wheeling

From the NYT bestselling author of WE ALL WANT IMPOSSIBLE THINGS and SANDWICH. ' The kind of book that pulls up a chair, pours the wine, and dives deep -equal parts hilarious, sharp, and achingly sincere. It's like spending hours with the friend who sees your mess and loves you more for it. I didn't just read it-I felt known by it.' Alison Espach, New York Times bestselling author of The Wedding People 'A delight... Newman's prose is laugh-out-loud funny. It's also profound . I didn't want it to end.' J. Courtney Sullivan, New York Times bestselling author of The Cliffs _______ Rocky, Nick, Willa and Jamie. A normal loving, anxious, messy, unpredictable, relatable, family. Rocky has her own her way of processing disasters: 1. This could happen to us. 2. This couldn't happen to us. And then there's a secret third column: 'This could happen to us unless I am very careful/ superstitious/ grateful...' So what happens when 'this could happen to us' turns into 'it really might be me'? When a former classmate of Jamie's dies in a seemingly random accident, Rocky becomes obsessed. She's also developed a niggling medical condition that won't go away. Even so, she is still living her best life as the irreverent, funny, unpredictably beating heart of her family. Her father is his unique, outspoken adorable self; her daughter Willa is prone to bouts of existential angst whilst berating the fact that her mother has zero filter; husband Nick is steady, logical, and sometimes infuriating. But if accidents can happen - and they do - is it really safe to love anyone? Laugh out loud funny and deeply emotional, WRECK follows Rocky and her family through one rollercoaster year as they share the unpredictable, beautiful messiness of life. _______ PRAISE FOR SANDWICH & WE ALL WANT IMPOSSIBLE THINGS: 'Breezy New York Nora-Ephron-style wit meets hospice memoir to create something profoundly beautiful...comforting, so funny, moving but never mawkish and packed with all kinds of love. Rizzoli International Publications A Place to Call Home A1044359386
For award-winning architect Gil Schafer, the most successful houses are the ones that celebrate the small moments of life—houses with timeless charm that are imbued with memory and anchored in a distinct sense of place. Essentially, Schafer believes a house is truly successful when the people who live there consider it home. It’s this belief—and Schafer’s rare ability to translate his clients’ deeply personal visions of how they want to live into a physical home that reflects those dreams—that has established him as one of the most sought-after, highly-regarded architects of our time. In his new book, A Place to Call Home Schafer follows up his bestselling The Great American House, by pulling the curtain back on his distinctive approach, sharing his process (complete with unexpected, accessible ideas readers can work into their own projects) and taking readers on a detailed tour of seven beautifully realized houses in a range of styles located around the country—each in a unique place, and each with a character all its own. 250 lush, full color photographs of these seven houses and other never-before-seen projects, including exterior, interior, and landscape details, invite readers into Schafer’s world of comfortable classicism. Opening with memories of the childhood homes and experiences that have shaped Schafer’s own history, A Place to Call Home gives the reader the sense that for Schafer, architecture is not just a career but a way of life, a calling. He describes how the many varied houses of his youth were informed as much by their style as by their sense of place, and how these experiences of home informed his idea of classicism as a set of values that he applies to many different kinds of architecture in places as varied as the ones he grew up in. Because while Schafer is absolutely a classical architect, he is in fact a modern traditionalist, and A Place to Call Home showcases how he effortlessly interprets traditional principles for a multiplicity of architectural styles within contemporary ways of living. Sections in Part I include the delicate balance of modern and traditional aesthetics, the juxtaposition of fancy and simple, and the details that make each project special and livable. Schafer also delves into what he refers to as “the spaces in between;” those often overlooked spaces like closets, mudrooms, and laundry rooms, explaining their underappreciated value in the broader context of a home. Part of Schafer’s skill lies in the way he gives the minutiae of a project as much attention as the grand aesthetic gestures, and ultimately, it’s this combination that brings his homes to life. Part II of the book is the story of seven houses and the places they inhabit—each with a completely different character and soul: a charming cottage completely rebuilt into a casual but gracious house for a young family in bucolic Mill Valley, California; a reconstructed historic 1930s Colonial house and gardens set in lush woodlands in Connecticut; a new, Adirondack camp-inspired house for an active family perched on the edge of Lake Placid with stunning views of nearby Whiteface Mountain; an elegant but family-friendly Fifth Avenue apartment with a panoramic view of Central Park; a new timber frame and stone barn situated to take advantage of the summer sun on a lovely, rambling property in New England; a new residence and outbuildings on a 6,000 acre hunting preserve in Georgia, inspired by the historic 1920s and 1930s hunting plantation houses in the region; and Schafer’s own, deeply personal, newly-renovated and surprisingly modern house located just a few feet from the Atlantic Ocean in coastal Maine. In Schafer’s hands, the stories of these houses are irresistibly readable. He guides the reader through each of the design decisions, sharing anecdotes about the process and fascinating historical background and contextual influences of the settings. Ultimately, the houses featured in A Place to Call Home are more than just b

Storyside My First Classical Music Album A1073114946
Storyside My First Classical Music Album A1073114946
There is a BIG hall filled with hundreds of people. They are just getting comfortable in their seats when the musicians walk onto the stage, carrying instruments. There are the string instruments: the violins, violas, cellos and large double basses, which are heavy to carry. There are the brass instruments: horns, trumpets, trombones and a tuba. And there are the woodwind instruments: flutes, oboes, clarinets and bassoons. The percussionists walk onto the stage too, but they are not carrying anything because their instruments – drums, triangles, timpani, xylophone and bells – are already set up. The musicians sit in their places, making a semi-circle on the stage and leaving a space in the front for the conductor. Then you can hear a long, clear note – an 'A' – from the oboe. All the musicians in the orchestra copy that note, making sure they are all in tune. When they are quiet and ready, the conductor walks onto the stage, carrying with him the little stick called a baton. He steps up onto the podium so that he's a bit taller, bows to the audience, and everyone claps. He turns around to face the orchestra and lifts up his baton. Everyone is silent. All the musicians are looking at that stick, with their instruments ready. Suddenly, down it goes and the whole orchestra starts to play! The concert has begun!
