Strelbytskyy Multimedia Publishing The Adventure of the Blue Carbuncle A1071485115
The Adventure of the Blue Carbuncle is one of 56 short Sherlock Holmes stories written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, the seventh story of twelve in the collection The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes. It was first published in Strand Magazine in January 1892.As London prepares for Christmas, newspapers report the theft of the near-priceless gemstone, the "Blue Carbuncle", from the hotel suite of the Countess of Morcar. John Horner, a plumber and a previously convicted felon, is soon arrested for the theft. Despite Horner's claims of innocence, the police are sure that they have their man. Horner's record, and his presence in the Countess's room where he was repairing a fireplace, are all the police need.Just after Christmas, Watson pays a visit to Holmes at 221B Baker Street. He finds the detective contemplating a battered old hat brought to him by the commissionaire, Peterson. Both the hat and a Christmas goose had been dropped by a man in a scuffle with some street ruffians. The honest Peterson had sought Holmes's help in returning the items to their owner but although the goose bears a tag with the owner's name—Henry Baker—based on the number of people with this name in London there is little hope of finding the man. Peterson takes the goose home for dinner, and Holmes keeps the hat to study as an intellectual exercise.Famous works of the author Arthur Conan Doyle's: "A Study in Scarlet", "Silver Blaze", "The Hound of the Baskervilles", "The Yellow Face", "A Scandal in Bohemia", "The Red-Headed League", A Case of Identity", "The Boscombe Valley Mystery", "The Five Orange Pips", "The Man with the Twisted Lip", "The Blue Carbuncle", "The Speckled Band", "The Engineer's Thumb", "The Noble Bachelor", "The Beryl Coronet", "The Copper Beeches" and many more.

Arsène Lupin, Gentleman Burglar (1907) is a collection of short stories by Maurice Leblanc. Originally published in Je sais tout, a popular French magazine, these stories launched Leblanc's career as a leading international writer of crime fiction. Partly based on the life of French anarchist Marius Jacob, Arsène Lupin first appeared in print in 1905 as an answer to Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes. Blending crime fiction, fantasy, and mystery, Leblanc crafts original and entertaining tales of adventure starring one of the greatest literary characters of all time--Arsène Lupin, gentleman thief. Arsène Lupin is the world's greatest thief, an unmatched force for good whose exploits threaten the wealth and standing of France's most wicked men. In this debut installment of Leblanc's beloved series, Lupin uses his remarkable wit and chameleon-like ability to move undetected through aristocratic society in order to steal, trick, and cheat his way through life. Despite his criminal nature, he operates under a strict moral code, only taking from those who have taken from the poor all their lives. In this collection of early short stories, Lupin is sentenced to prison, makes a daring escape, cracks an impregnable safe, and makes the acquaintance of Sherlock Holmes, the legendary British detective. These nine tales are the perfect introduction to Leblanc's legendary literary universe. Arsène Lupin, Gentleman Burglar is a story of romance, mystery, and crime that continues to astound over a century after it was published. HarperCollins The Case-Book of Sherlock Holmes A1015686558
HarperCollins is proud to present its new range of best-loved, essential classics. Featuring the last 12 stories ever written about the infamous detective, The Case-Book of Sherlock Holmes contains some of Conan Doyle's most villainous and unusual characters. The 1920s was a disenchanting era, and the darker mood of many of these stories reflects the environment at the time. Some even felt that the stories showed Conan Doyle exploring Spiritualism as it was an area he was interested in at the time and the mental derangement and physical disfigurements that crop up in many of the stories allude to the horrors of the First World War. The collection includes 'The Adventure of the Sussex Vampire', 'The Adventure of the Creeping Man' and 'The Adventure of the Lion's Mane'.

Parolita Libro The Professor Challenger Collection A1056687278
Parolita Libro The Professor Challenger Collection A1056687278
The Professor Challenger Collection includes the two most important full-length novels featuring Professor Challenger. George Edward Challenger is a fictional character in a series of fantasy and science fiction stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Unlike Conan Doyle's self-controlled, analytical character, Sherlock Holmes, Professor Challenger is an aggressive, hot-tempered, dominating figure. Like Sherlock Holmes, Professor Challenger was based on real persons - in this case, an explorer named Percy Fawcett, who was Conan Doyle's friend, and a professor of physiology named William Rutherford, who had lectured at the University of Edinburgh while Conan Doyle studied medicine there. The Lost World is a science fiction novel by British writer Arthur Conan Doyle, published in 1912, concerning an expedition to a plateau in the Amazon basin of South America where prehistoric animals still survive. It was originally published serially in the Strand Magazine and illustrated by New-Zealand-born artist Harry Rountree during the months of April-November 1912. The character of Professor Challenger was introduced in this book. The novel also describes a war between indigenous people and a vicious tribe of ape-like creatures. The Poison Belt is a science fiction novel by British writer Arthur Conan Doyle, the second book about Professor Challenger. Written in 1913, much of it takes place in a single room in Challenger's house in Sussex. This would be the last story written about Challenger until the 1920s, by which time Doyle's spiritualist beliefs had begun to influence his writing.

'A guess that answers every question is not far from being the truth.' First published in 1923, The Confessions of Arsène Lupin is a collection of ten short stories following the misadventures of the charismatic and clever hero-thief, Arsène Lupin, and his criminal acquaintances. Featuring daring heists, mischievous disguises and cunning escape plans, The Confessions of Arsène Lupin sees our charming protagonist recount some of his most memorable tales. Good Press Round the Red Lamp: Being Facts and Fancies of Medical Life A1067873093
Good Press Round the Red Lamp: Being Facts and Fancies of Medical Life A1067873093
Round the Red Lamp: Being Facts and Fancies of Medical Life gathers Arthur Conan Doyle's stories of doctors, patients, hospitals, and consulting rooms, treating medicine as both profession and moral theater. Its title refers to the red lamp that traditionally marked a physician's door, and the collection moves between realism, melodrama, humor, and the uncanny. Written in a late-Victorian context shaped by scientific progress and social anxiety, these tales examine diagnosis, professional honor, suffering, and the fragile boundary between knowledge and mystery. Conan Doyle was himself trained as a physician at the University of Edinburgh, where he encountered eminent medical teachers and the disciplined habits of observation that also informed Sherlock Holmes. Before literary success freed him from practice, he worked as a ship's surgeon and maintained medical offices, experiences that gave him intimate knowledge of professional frustration, ethical burden, and bedside drama. This collection reflects not casual curiosity but lived familiarity. Readers interested in medical humanities, Victorian fiction, or Conan Doyle beyond detective literature will find this volume especially rewarding. It reveals a writer attentive to science yet alert to human vulnerability, offering stories that remain vivid, compassionate, and intellectually engaging.

Aionas Verlag Arsène Lupin, Gentleman-Gauner. Abenteuergeschichten A1076347704
