Testurteil: "4 out of 5"
Test: Einzeltest: Withings Wireless Scale WS-30
Zitat: The good: + The Withings WS-30 couldn´t look much better - though for £89.95, you’d expect that. Sleek, crafted from glass and aluminium, this is the iPod of bathroom accessories. Even the Bluetooth syncing button on its rear is nicely recessed. It´s a true thing of beauty. And when you´ve finished drooling over it (don´t worry, it´s water resistant) setting up your new connected kilogram-counter is similarly slick. Pair the scales with an iPhone, iPod touch or iPad and fire up the company´s app. It´s ultra-smart, and even shares your mobile device´s Wi-Fi settings with the scales, so they can get online and you needn´t tap in troublesome passwords. From then on, everything´s admin-free. Step onto the scales and they´ll give you a daily weight and BMI measurement. They´re smart enough to recognise different family members too, even as your weight changes. Withings even makes its data available to other apps, so your heft measurements are handily synced to popular offerings such as Endomondo or RunKeeper for easier tallying with exercise regimes.
The bad: - While the latest Withings scale offers simpler setup than previous versions, it also skimps one feature: body fat measurement. To add that to your daily digital physical, you´ll need an older version of the device, which means more awkward setup using a USB cable and a computer. It´s hardly a deal-breaker, but if you´re serious about tracking your tummy´s demise, the lack of full body composition stats might be tough to swallow. Similarly, it only supports iOS at present. If you´re a tubby Android user, you´ll need to look for other electronic slimming aids.
The Withings Wireless Scale WS-30 is a truly beautiful bathroom addition that packs more than a few technological smarts, but one that´s only suitable for those with an iPhone, iPod or iPad in their XXL trouser pockets.
