The present cross-sectional research was carried out with the women basketball players of University of Delhi, and a matched control group; after screening within pre-determined selection criteria. The investigation was undertaken with a rationale that there is paucity of data regarding the effect of impaired hydration status on the psycho-physiological parameters, fluid intake practices and factors influencing these practices amongst the athletes, primarily in India. The findings indicated significantly higher values of post-exercise urine specific gravity (p>0.01); urine pH (p>0.05) and heart rate (p>0.05) in basketball group compared to control group. A positive covariance was also observed between urine specific gravity and heart rate, implying that significantly higher levels of dehydration in the basketball group may have caused deterioration in psycho-physiological response. The study highlighted that training in an uncontrolled environment may cause dehydration related psycho-physiological fatigue, which may be attenuated with improved fluid intake practices.

In this work, there are examined the effects of several visible and and near-infrared laser light wavelengths on ATP, which are non-resonant for the molecule. It is described the biochemical behavior of irradiated ATP in cellular reactions in which ATP is a substrate, resulting in alteration of the kinetics of the studied reactions in a wavelength and and dose dependent process. When exciting ATP with UV photons, it fluoresces, and the fluorescence intensity decreases when Mg2+ is added. Irradiating the ATP-Mg2+ solution with non-resonant light increases the fluorescence emission. The refraction of light in an ATP solution is studied by the Michelson interferometer and by directly measuring the refractive index. The refractive index changes after non-resonant wavelengths irradiation of the ATP solution. The interaction mechanism described in this work may be of importance when cells and tissues are light- exposed at the correct parameters.

Highway construction often causes substantial adverse environmental effects, both during and after the construction. To assess the construction impact on surroundings and mitigate its influences, environmental research is often conducted before the construction. This book focuses on GIS-based hydrological modeling of US I-99 Highway construction watersheds. Recent GIS-based hydrological studies are mostly applied to large, natural watersheds. However, the watersheds in this research are small and their topographies are severely disturbed by construction. There are a few difficulties in applying the GIS theory in the research. Several improvements were made to apply GIS-based watershed model using Watershed Modeling System. Further, a new model - Highway Watershed Model was developed, which uses a new type of unit hydrograph Linear Exponential Unit Hydrograph (LEUH). This book provides theories and tools in GIS application in hydrologic engineering, and should be especially useful to professionals in water environmental assessment.
