Georg Olms Verlag Schenkerian Analysis - Analyse nach Heinrich Schenker
There are two main reasons why Heinrich Schenker became one of the most discussed music theorists of the 20th century: Firstly, his theory enables descriptions of the voice leading, harmony and syntax of tonal works that are as multi-layered as they are consistent. And secondly, Schenker's 'theory of layers' found ideal conditions in the USA, where most of Schenker's students had emigrated after 1933 - conditions that quickly allowed it to rise to become the leading theory of tonal music. In Austria, Germany and Switzerland, Schenker's reception initially took a different path: until the turn of the millennium, Schenker's theory remained the preserve of a few specialists. Since then, however, it has also met with growing interest in the German-speaking world. This German-English anthology contributes to Schenker research in both language areas and academic cultures. It examines questions of theoretical history, illuminates unexplored aspects of Schenker theory and opens up numerous of its implications for the theory of science, the history of reception and music aesthetics. In doing so, he often goes beyond Schenker - through new ideas of rhythm and metrics, references to Niklas Luhmann's systems theory or pluralistic theoretical concepts. The separate music volume contains analytical graphics as well as original musical texts. Online audio examples illustrate how different analytical interpretations can affect musical performances. Finally, a glossary and index facilitate in-depth readings along the lines of specific questions. A fundamental study book that shows music theorists and performers numerous possibilities for being inspired by Schenker's thinking.
Quercus Publishing Plc The Book of Ichigo Ichie A1055611415
Learn to make every moment a once-in-a-lifetime experience with this definitive guide to the Japanese art of ichigo ichie, from the bestselling authors of Ikigai. 'Ikigai urges individuals to simplify their lives by pursuing what sparks joy for them' (Marie '' Kondo) Every moment in our life happens only once, and if we let it slip away, we lose it forever-an idea captured by the Japanese phrase ichigo ichie. Often used to convey that the encounter is unique and special, it is a tenet of Zen Buddhism and is attributed to a sixteenth-century master of the Japanese tea ceremony, or 'ceremony of attention', whose intricate rituals compel us to focus on the present moment. From this age-old concept comes a new kind of mindfulness. In The Book of Ichigo Ichie, you will learn to use all five senses to anchor yourself in the present. Every one of us contains a key that can open the door to attention, harmony with others, and love of life. And that key is ichigo ichie. 'This is a great little book to lift the spirits and remind us of the importance of living in the 'now' , not worrying about the past or future.' - 5* Reader Review 'This book should act as a wakeup call . Make each now a sacred moment. Pay attention! Make each moment special!' - 5* Reader Review 'The authors of Ikigai have offered another brief and masterful addition for those seeking out a simpler and more fulfilling life.' - 5* Reader Review
Penguin Random House Llc Through the Year With Thomas Merton A1004873920
A meditation a day from Thomas Merton This convenient day book is a compendium of inspiring passages from the writings of one of this century's spiritual giants. It offers daily challenges for thoughtful meditation intended to stimulate, provoke, and lead to grace. Here are some enduring thoughts found in these pages: "We cannot be happy if we expect o live all the time at the highest peak of intensity. Happiness is not a matter of intensity, but of balance and order and rhythm and harmony." "Every moment and every event of every man's life on earth plants something in his soul." "Nothing is more suspicious, in a man who seems holy, than an impatient desire to reform other men. Pay as little attention as you can to the faults of other people and none at all to their natural defects and eccentricities." "The wise heart lives in Christ." "Wisdom manifests itself, and yet is hidden. The more it hides, the more it is manifest; and the more it is manifest, the more it is hidden. For God is known where he is apprehended as unknown, and he is heard when we realize that we do not know the sound of his voice." "God utters me like a word containing a partial thought of himself." "Our full spiritual life is life in wisdom, life in Christ. The darkness of faith bears fruit in the light of wisdom." "Love cannot come of emptiness. It is full of reality."

Vielmehr soll ¿ in Anbetracht der These, dass ¿a westernized nation is one that was born and wants to live in harmony with Western nations with whom it shares structural and molecular simliarities¿ ¿ untersucht werden, welche Rolle die Annäherung an die Westmächte in Bezug auf die Außenpolitik der neugegründeten Republik in den Jahren 1923 bis 1938 spielt.
To see peace in our lifetimes, we have to practice love. This is the radical message of this inspirational book of pithy advice from environmental activist Satish Kumar, which helps us find ways to love ourselves, others, and all beings on planet Earth—even those we may find unlovable. Satish Kumar is well known for his epic walk for world peace in his youth in the 1960s from India to the nuclear capitals of Moscow, Paris, London, and Washington, DC. Wherever he traveled, he found that human beings were capable of a love that could overcome hatred and division. Settling down in the UK, he married his wife, June Mitchell, and founded eco-university Schumacher College in Devon, eventually becoming a leading figure in the UK green movement. Radical Love distills the author's lifetime of experience as a lover, parent, activist, and educator into simple lessons on transforming our time of ecological crisis, conflict, and scarcity into one in which we experience harmony with nature, safety, and abundance. It is an exploration of the transformative power of love in all its forms, from romantic love to love for one's family and community to love for the planet and all beings. Kumar's approach is founded on simplicity (including the Jain principle of aparigraha), generosity, and continuous learning. Like an unfolding metta meditation, the book expands our notions of love to its most sublime universal state and makes a great gift to share with those we love.

It is your best work, Basil, the best thing you have ever done," said Lord Henry, languidly. "You must certainly send it next year to the Grosvenor. The Academy is too large and too vulgar. The Grosvenor is the only place." "I don't think I will send it anywhere," he answered, tossing his head back in that odd way that used to make his friends laugh at him at Oxford. "No: I won't send it anywhere." Lord Henry elevated his eyebrows, and looked at him in amazement through the thin blue wreaths of smoke that curled up in such fanciful whorls from his heavy opium-tainted cigarette. "Not send it anywhere? My dear fellow, why? Have you any reason? What odd chaps you painters are! You do anything in the world to gain a reputation. As soon as you have one, you seem to want to throw it away. It is silly of you, for there is only one thing in the world worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about. A portrait like this would set you far above all the young men in England, and make the old men quite jealous, if old men are ever capable of any emotion." "I know you will laugh at me," he replied, "but I really can't exhibit it. I have put too much of myself into it." Lord Henry stretched his long legs out on the divan and shook with laughter. "Yes, I knew you would laugh; but it is quite true, all the same." "Too much of yourself in it! Upon my word, Basil, I didn't know you were so vain; and I really can't see any resemblance between you, with your rugged strong face and your coal-black hair, and this young Adonis, who looks as if he was made of ivory and rose-leaves. Why, my dear Basil, he is a Narcissus, and you--well, of course you have an intellectual expression, and all that. But beauty, real beauty, ends where an intellectual expression begins. Intellect is in itself an exaggeration, and destroys the harmony of any face. The moment one sits down to think, one becomes all nose, or all forehead, or something horrid. Look at the successful men in any of the learned professions. How perfectly hideous they are! Except, of course, in the Church. But then in the Church they don't think. A bishop keeps on saying at the age of eighty what he was told to say when he was a boy of eighteen, and consequently he always looks absolutely delightful. Your mysterious young friend, whose name you have never told me, but whose picture really fascinates me, never thinks. I feel quite sure of that. He is a brainless, beautiful thing, who should be always here in winter when we have no flowers to look at, and always here in summer when we want something to chill our intelligence. Don't flatter yourself, Basil: you are not in the least like him.

Ingram Publishers Services A Pedagogist's Memoir A1074596924
Opportunities to write our memoirs are many and varied. To meet emerging demands, the memoir genre continually is evolving, and it is possible for the memoirist to shape the memoirs, with varying themes, time and settings, to be brought to bear on school education at a senior level and for a range of teacher-development programs. Thus, the developing importance of an accompanying exegesis. For better or for worse, childhoods shape adult relationships and attachment styles, profoundly shaping who we are as teachers, teaching styles and generally the things we consider important and not so important. The shape of our childhood and adolescence has a profound impact on how relationships are formed in adulthood. It can affect our ability to trust, be vulnerable and create productive bonds, both at school and college and professionally, and also our general levels of motivation. Through the aforementioned theme and subthemes, my memoirs here reveal how childhood struggle has shaped my approach to teaching and my academic career - from an unskilled labourer from the country working class in the timber industry, deprived of a high school education and recruited into the workforce at 15 years of age, to a senior academic in one of Australia's G8 universities, holding five PhDs. With strong historical backgrounding, a special appeal of this book is its drive to place childhood and adolescent events contained in the memoirs in a wider historical context, looking to transnational movements such as discussions on anachronisms and eugenics. In so doing, the exegesis - a fresh and exciting innovation - is in harmony with the memoirs. The memoir is so refashioned as a pedagogical tool.

GRIN Die Vereinbarkeit steigender Erträge mit Wettbewerbsbedingungen
Bachelorarbeit aus dem Jahr 2008 im Fachbereich BWL - Sonstiges, Note: 1, Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: In the tranquil view which the modern theory of value presents us there is one dark spot which disturbes the harmony of the whole.
