Mit Slogans wie ¿Fliegen zum Taxipreis¿, ¿Fly high, pay low¿, oder ¿ Fliegen zum Preis von einer Jeans¿ wird seit einigen Jahren verstärkt im Luftverkehr geworben. Das dazugehörige Geschäftsmodell nennt sich ¿Low Cost Carrier¿. Durch die Liberalisierung des zivilen Luftverkehrsmarktes in Europa Anfang der neunziger Jahre, konnten erstmals alle Fluggesellschaften jede beliebige europaweite Flugstrecke aufnehmen. Die Deregulierung bedeutete für den Kunden eine größere Auswahl an Flugoptionen und günstigere Ticketpreise und ermöglichte es den Low Cost Carriern in den europäischen Markt einzutreten. Während der europäische Luftverkehr weiter wächst, verlieren die ursprünglichen Full Service Carrier immer mehr an Führungsrolle. Stattdessen sind Low Cost Carrier wie Germanwings, easyJet oder Rynair, die in unserer heutigen Gesellschaft nicht mehr wegzudenken sind, der neue Wachstumsmotor im Luftverkehr und machen das Fliegen, dank preiswerten Tickets, für eine breite Bevölkerungsschicht zugänglich. Das Modell des Billigfliegers hat sich in den letzten zwanzig Jahren stark entwickelt und seinen Marktanteil in Europa stetig erhöht. Doch was ist das Erfolgsrezept dieses Businessmodells? Was macht Low Cost Carrier so einzigartig und profitabel und was unterscheidet sie von den herkömmlichen Full Service Carriern? Im Folgenden werden auf diese und ähnliche Aspekte genauer eingegangen, Fragen nach Entwicklung, Geschäftsmodell und Zielen genauer erläutert und schließlich die Perspektiven des Low Cost Carrier ¿ Segments für die Zukunft im Luftverkehr zusammengefasst. Insbesondere wird der Focus dieser Arbeit auf dem europäischen Markt der Low Cost Carrier unter Berücksichtigung von drei in Europa marktführenden Low Cost Carriern (Rynair, easyJet, Germanwings) liegen.

The reason for this price dispersion is caused by consumer heterogeneity. Salop and Stiglitz explain, that ¿because of differences in preference or ability, some agents perform much better than others in market decisions.¿ To model this kind of heterogeneity they assign different costs of gathering certain information to the consumers. For simplicity they part the consumers in two groups: The first one consists of low-cost information gatherer and the other group has higher cost to gain complete information. For further simplicity there are just two levels of information: to be completely informed or to be not informed at all. Furthermore the costs to become an informed consumer are fixed. The differences in information in this model regard the locations of the shops. All consumers know about all prices that are in the market, they just do not know where the shop with a certain (the lowest) price is. The shops on the other hand have complete information about the market. They know about the differences between the consumers and can compute the demand that will occur, when they ask a certain price. So they face a trade-off between higher prices and lower demand. It is important to state why there is a possibility of raising the price and not to loose all demand like it would be in a perfect market. When the rise in price is not too high, it does not pay for the high-cost information gatherer to become completely informed. Their expected loss by buying randomly either in low- or high-priced shops is lower than the fixed cost of gathering the information. All together this consumer heterogeneity and the fully informed shops can lead to price dispersion in equilibrium, even though the goods are homogeneous and there is the difference in information between the actors.

The on-farm trial was conducted to know the effect of feeding bypass protein and bypass fat supplement to buffaloes allotted to three dietary treatments at Dahod district of Gujarat. The supplementation of bypass protein in combination with bypass fat (T3) to buffaloes resulted in higher % of total solids and fat in the milk. The daily yield of whole milk and 6% FCM was higher in Bypass protein (T2) and T3 as compared to Control (T1). The efficiency of conversion of DM and TDN was superior in T3. The service period, services required per conception and body weight loss were significantly lower in T2 and T3 as compared to T1 group. The daily feed cost (Rs.) was significantly higher in T3 group. The daily realizable receipt from sale of milk was the highest in T3 followed by T2 and T1 group. The return over feed cost (Rs./day) was significantly higher in supplemented groups compared to control. However, the net saving (Rs./head/150 days) was 7179.23 and 6256.03 in T3 and T2 groups, respectively, over and above the buffaloes reared on farm feeding schedule, on account of higher return over feed cost, reduction in service period and lowered cost of Artificial Insemination.
