A primary objective of this project is to develop a universal meta-structure of criminal law that can serve as the basis for the organization of material, enable systematic comparisons, and further the development of an international criminal law doctrine. This meta-structure is also a prerequisite for analyzing the various approaches taken around the world to shared criminal law-related problems, identifying general legal principles, and drafting international model codes. A second goal of the project is to provide global access by means of a computer-based expert system to data from the participating legal systems in the form of country reports organized on the basis of the aforementioned universal meta-structure. Towards these ends, a pilot project was carried out to analyze, structure, and present the General Part of the criminal law in twelve legal systems. The results were published in five volumes from 2008 to 2010 (in German). In the meantime, the number of legal systems included in the study has grown considerably, with the help of contributions from researchers at the Max Planck Institute as well as from external research partners. First fruits of this expansion are presented here, with the publication of reports from an additional eleven countries: Australia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Hungary, India, Iran, Japan, Romania, Russia, Switzerland, Uruguay, and the United States of America.

The University of Victoria Pacific Centre for Scientific and Technological Literacy is one of five Centres for Research into Youth, Science Teaching and Learning (CRYSTAL) funded for 5 years (2005--2010) by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council Canada (NSERC). Pacific CRYSTAL intended to promote scientific, mathematical, and technological literacy for responsible citizenship through research partnerships with university and educational communities. Pacific CRYSTAL's functional structure consisted of 3 research and development nodes connected to a leadership and administrative node, which was charged with facilitating the activities of 19 projects and 42 principal investigators, partners, and research associates. Node 1, an incubation centre, involved extracurricular authentic science, mathematics, and technology experiences; Node 2, a classroom testing environment, field-tested instructional ideas and strategies to develop evidence-based practices; and Node 3, lighthouse schools, involved systemic change and leadership opportunities that adapted, demonstrated, and disseminated tested ideas, resources, and strategies to a much broader education community and attempted to influence public policy. This book provides descriptions of the target goals, research and development projects, and lessons learned.

Diese wurde 2010-11 an der Assam Agricultural University in Jorhat durchgeführt und ein Modell mit folgenden Bereichen entwickelt und als Null-Abfall-Modell vorgestellt (Ackerbau + Gartenbau) - Milchwirtschaft - Geflügelzucht - Fischerei - Imkerei - Flüssigdüngerproduktion - Wurmkompostierung - Biogasanlage und Wertschöpfung entwickelt und als Null-Abfall-Modell vorgestellt. Ziel des Projekts war es, den jährlichen Nahrungsbedarf einer Familie (mit 5 Mitgliedern) so weit wie möglich zu decken, natürliche Ressourcen zu erhalten und ein Null-Abfall-Modell mit 1 Hektar Anbaufläche vorzustellen. Jaroslav Poncar wurde 1945 in Prag geboren. Heute lebt er in Köln, wo er zwischen 1973 und 2003 als Professor im Fachbereich Fotoingenieurwesen tätig war und im Jahr 2010 am Institut für angewandte Optik und Elektronik emeritiert wurde. Seine zahlreichen fotografisch motivierten Reisen führten ihn meistens in den Himalaja und nach Tibet, nach Zentralasien, Indien und nach Kambodscha. Seit 1976 entwickelte er eine besondere Vorliebe für die Panoramafotografie. Als erster Europäer durchquerte er 1985 Tibet in seiner gesamten Ost-West-Ausdehnung. Im Jahr darauf schloss er sich für längere Zeit tibetischen Nomaden an. 1987 erforschte er zusammen mit einem Filmteam das Quellgebiet der Flüsse Indus, Brahmaputra, Sutlej und Karnali. Publikationen wie "Ladakh - Land der Pässe", "Tibet - Tor zum Himmel" und "Alchi - Ladakh's Hidden Buddhist Sanctuary" weisen ihn als gefragten Himalaja-Experten aus.
