Testurteil: "3 out of 5"
Test: Einzeltest: Devolo dLAN LiveCam
Zitat: The good: + Set-up is easy-peasy. There’s no fiddly Wi-Fi password to type in, and no need to position the camera correctly for a decent wireless signal. Just plug it in, connect its companion adapter to your broadband router and press a button on each box. They´ll find each other, and presto: by the magic of Powerline, they´re connected. The camera quality´s good, despite a slightly sluggish frame rate, and built-in night vision means it´s useful in the evening as well as broad daylight. The camera´s accessible through an app on your iPhone or iPad: feed it your camera´s unique ID and password, and from then on you´ll have an electronic eye watching over your most precious belongings, people or pets. The app is basic, but functional - it´s not optimised for iPhone 5, but that´s a minor grumble.
The bad: - Though the dLAN LiveCam looks like it should tilt and shift automatically, it can´t. Wherever you place it, it´s stuck for good. That´s a shame, considering its bulky size - which brings us to its subtlety. If you´re looking for a less-than-obvious nannycam, look elsewhere. There´s no missing the plastic dome and bulging eye of the Powerline Camera. It´s a very obvious observer. It also fails to record sound, so if you´re hoping to listen in on a snoozing baby, or tell whether your dog barks while you´re at work, it won´t come up to scratch. Recording video, activating when it sees movement or alerting you to anything remotely are also off the cards.
If you´re allergic to Wi-Fi, or simply need a camera beyond the range of your wireless network, the dLAN LiveCam’s a great addition to your connected home. It´ll give you peace of mind, but only when you remember to check in. As smart as it is, this connected camera isn´t going to catch many burglars, win any beauty pageants or knock your socks off with surprise special features. It´s a purely functional webcam, for use further than usual from your PC.
