Jak Yakar b. 1943 in Istanbul studied Archaeology, Near Eastern Civilizations and Prehistory at Istanbul University between 1960 and 1965. He pursued his graduate studies at Brandeis University in Massachusetts on a Wien Scholarship grant, receiving a PhD in Mediterranean Studies in 1968. Following compulsory army service, in 1970 he accepted Tel Aviv Universitys offer to establish the Ancient Anatolian Civilizations section in the Department of Archaeology and Ancient Near Eastern Cultures there. During his long career at Tel Aviv University, he served as the Chairman of the Department and the Director of the Sonia and Marco Nadler Institute of Archaeology. After working with the late B.U Alkim on the Samsun Archaeological Project from 1972 to 1975, he concentrated on ethno-archaeological studies, conducting research mostly in the northern, eastern, and southeastern provinces of Turkey. Im ungebrochenen Vertrauen darauf, dass der Kurs des Dollar zur DM steigen werde, hätten die Londoner Händler immer neue Verluste angehäuft, teilte die Privatbank Adam and Co am Dienstag in Edinburgh mit. Die Händler haben sich wie ungeübte Spieler am Roulettetisch verhalten und immer wieder auf das gleiche Ergebnis gesetzt. Als die Situation immer verzweifelter wurde, haben Sie von Zeit zu Zeit den Einsatz verdoppelt, kommentierte Chairman Sir Charles Fraser das Verhalten der Händler. International tätige Unternehmen benötigen die Dienste ihrer Hausbanken für ihre Geschäfte, Exporteure erhalten aus ihren Verkäufen fremde Zahlungsmittel (Fremdwährungen); Importeure benötigen für die Käufe Fremdwährungen. Zur Umwandlung der Fremdwährungen in die nationale Währung benötigen sie einen Intermediär. Diese Funktion übernehmen die Banken für ihre Kunden. International tätige Kreditinstitute gewähren auch Kredite in fremder Währung, bzw. gehen Verbindlichkeiten in fremder Währung ein. Neben dem Kundengeschäft betreiben die Banken auch Eigengeschäfte, insbesondere den Devisenhandel. So betrug der in US-Dollar umgerechnete Tagesumsatz im April 1989 rd. 80 Mrd. USD. Neben diesen traditionellen Fremdwährungsgeschäften etablieren sich zusehends bilanzunwirksame Finanzinnovationen, deren Wesensmerkmale die Futurisierung (Futurization) sowie die Standardisierung sind5. Die bedeutendsten Finanzderivate, so der allgemeine Begriff dieser Innovationen6, sind Swaps, Optionen und Termingeschäfte (Futures).
