Die Macchi MC 202 Folgore („Donnerschlag") stellte während des Zweiten Weltkriegs eine entscheidende Innovation für die Jagdabteilungen der italienischen Luftstreitkräfte („Regia Aeronautica") dar. Es wurden etwa 1.150 Stück gebaut, die ab 1941 eingesetzt wurden. Der Jagdeinsitzer war mit dem leistungsstarken 12-Zylinder-Triebwerk DB 601 von Daimler-Benz ausgestattet, das bei Alfa Romeo in Lizenz gebaut wurde. Die Flugleistungen waren im Vergleich zu den mit Sternmotoren ausgestatteten Jägern der vorherigen Generation (Fiat G-50 und Macchi MC 200) signifikant erhöht, sodass die Regia Aeronautica mit der wieder in der Lage war, mit den alliierten Jägern „auf Augenhöhe" zu kämpfen. Er zeichnete sich durch die Einführung von zwei Triebwerken aus, wie viele andere Flugzeuge der damaligen Zeit mit ähnlichen Eigenschaften, aber auch durch die Einführung innovativer Lösungen wie der Ganz Metallstruktur. Das Flugzeug war mit seinen zwei Motoren Jumo 211 in der Lage, eine Höchstgeschwindigkeit von 440 km/h zu erreichen und in seinem internen Laderaum über 2.000 kg Bomben zu transportieren. 1:72 US P-51A Mustang Die North American P-51 Mustang ist ohne Zweifel eines der berühmtesten Flugzeuge der Luftwaffengeschichte und gilt als eines der besten einsitzigen Jagdflugzeuge mit traditionellem Kolbenmotor des Zweiten Weltkriegs. Die P-51A gehörte zu den am frühesten produzierten Versionen und wurde bereits 1942 in Einsätzen verwendet. Sie war mit einem neuen Allison V-1710 -Motor ausgestattet, der eine beachtliche Leistung erbrachte und dem Flugzeug eine Höchstgeschwindigkeit von über 650 km/h ermöglichte. Die Bewaffnung bestand aus vier Browning 12,7-mm-Maschinengewehren, die in den Tragflächen installiert waren. Die ohnehin schon beträchtliche Reichweite des Flugzeugs konnte durch den Einsatz von zwei Flügeltanks noch erhöht werden.
