Cooler Master Storm Spawn

I also found my reliance on a classic "palm" grip led me to shift my hand towards the pinky rest when caught in a firefight while playing FPS games. The three DPI settings were a welcome change though I would have liked to get a setting between 1800 and 3500 to hit my sweet spot without tweaking the polling rate to get there. Once I got used to the size and shape, I found the Spawn to be both fast and comfortable for both gaming and casual use. All of this is minor nit-picking for a mouse that looks and feels like a mouse at twice the cost. For the money you get a sweet set of features and amazing quality. Not sure I am sold on the red and black aesthetics but it does like an aluminum powder coat in person and the rubber accent not only helps with your grip it looks nice too.

Evidence of durability comes from the fact that the Sentinel Advance has yet to leave my desktop since I reviewed it back in September of 2009. Getting back to the Spawn, it is a great looking mouse with its black and red theme. The buttons are large and easy to press, with the addition buttons being easy to switch between. Many may consider this advantage of the Spawn, to actually be a disadvantage, and that is the size. Cooler Master meant for the Spawn to have the short stout structure. We found the Spawn ideal to carry along with our gaming laptop when going to go visit granny on the weekend. The combination of length and non-slip grips made it easy to keep the mouse between our fingers and not flying all over the desktop. A benefit of it´s size, the Spawn is a lightweight mouse, which many of you will like. We do feel that CM should have given the consumer the option to add weight to the mouse to further enhance the comfort level. We tested the Spawn with everything from the simplest internet game, up to the newest FPS. The Spawn fared well in each of the instances, but the comfort level of the Spawn proved to be ideal for everyday task like browsing the net and photo editing. The software that is used to customize the Spawn is easy to navigate and simple to use, but the actual customizing process may feel a bit backwards to some. For instance, the DPI settings can only be set for 800, 1800 and 3500 DPI. Generally speaking that will be fine for the majority of you, but we know a good many would prefer the ability to set it to a great deal more then those 3.
