This pedal does exactly what it made to do - give a strong, transparent decibel boost for solos in a live gig situation. It works much better placed in your amp's effects loop (if you have one), where it boosts the power amp and therefore audible volume, if like me that what you wanted it for. Placed in front of my Blackstar HD60's clean channel, in works differently, driving the subtle valve overdrive of my amp's clean channel in to further overdrive. This sounds great, but
I hesitated a long time before pulling the trigger on getting this pedal. After all, it doesn't really "do" anything except "enhance" the signal. Well yes, that's exactly what it does. To my ear, the chain of devices on my pedal board was weakening the original signal from the guitar, and I didn't want to have to add distortion to boost that. When I finally got this and put it at the beginning of the signal chain, I could immediately hear the difference as the
Pretty simple. Click the switch and it gives you a clean boost. As clean as can be. Very, very powerful. Seldom do I go past 9 o’clock because at that point it’s way too much of a volume change. I’ve also experimented with leaving it on all the time to make some instruments sound a bit hotter. Make this the first pedal on your board unless you have a tuner. That clean boost running through the rest of your pedals is almost like a miniature amp for your pedal board if you will.
Great boost. Plenty of room to boost your signal. Gets loud. Transparent, no color added.Update: I am in an ACDC cover band and have to boost twice in each song multiply by amount of songs played, anyway. It lasted one year. I am buying another 1. It is a $50 pedal. It sounds much better then my exotic effects RC booster.
