Testurteil: "3 out of 5"
Test: Einzeltest: X-mini Max
Zitat: The good: + The X-mini Max speakers really are portable: they nestle nicely in your hand, clip together to carry around or transform into one mega-speaker Power Rangers style, and weigh just 160g, barely more than the smartphone in your pocket. Cleverly, X-mini has weighed both speakers at the bottom, so that they don’t reverberate or bounce around whenever they’re belching out heavy bass. And what bass it is, deep and something close to crisp, not the typical flatulent tinny sound you’re used to with cheap speakers. It’s the sort of audio quality other people on the bus might not actually object to (not that we tried). The two 2W speakers with ceramic tweeters crank out phenomenal sound for their size: you wouldn’t want to listen to a brand new album on these for the first time, sure, but for social occasions they’re a solid choice. They’re not just small, they’re conveniently designed too. A 3.5mm cable means they’ll plug into any gadget with a headphone socket, and because they charge with a micro USB cable, there’s a good chance they can charge with the cable that comes in your phone’s box (Unless you own an iPhone). Not that you’ll have to very often: the X-mini Max speakers run for up to 18 hours on a charge, which let’s face it, is longer than the time from sun up to sun down for much of the year.
The bad: - We have no problems with what’s in the X-mini Max speakers, but some music fans will likely expect a bit more. For one, they don’t support Bluetooth, as some bulkier portable speaker/streamers do, so you can boss them around from a distance, or even line up tunes from two different devices. You might also turn your nose up at the price - £45 is a lot for a pair of tiny portable speakers, and it does mean that these aren’t impulse buys. You’ll need to be planning lots more picnics in the park and trips to the beach as summer winds down to make these worthwhile - but if you are, you’ll love them.
The X-mini Max speakers are a clever set of portable boomboxes that are small enough that you really can take them anywhere, even squeezing into your pockets where “portable” wireless speakers with a huge rechargeable battery in will still weigh down your backpack. They’re pricey for a plug-in set of speakers, sure, but the rare combination of portability and sound quality makes these bad boys well worth the price of admission.
