Test: Einzeltest: ASUS P6X58-E WS Workstation Motherboard
Zitat: ASUS markets the P6X58-E WS as an ultimate workstation motherboard and rightfully so, as it offers all the tools needed to be one. You can’t argue the fact that is the only that will offer you triple SLI with the aid of the NVIDIA NF200 controller and quad-GPU Crossfire. A graphic designer or CAD user would love the fact they are getting maximum PCIe bandwidth to take advantage of the full potential their graphics cards have to offer. The P6X58-E WS has a total of five x16 length slots with the blue slots operating at the full x16 bandwidth. The spacing between these slots is ideal for the dual-slotted graphic cards. The P6X58-E WS for the above reasons could be considered a gamer´s motherboard as well. Those that can afford multiple video cards for that ultimate gaming rig will see better video response with the bandwidth being fully utilized. For gamer or an enthusiasts there are extra benefits can be had in the overclocking department as well. ASUS may not be marketing this motherboard as an overclocking monster, but through the TurboV or BIOS you can get a decent overclock on your processor. We were able to get 3.8GHz out of our C stepping i7 920 fairly easily. Coming from ASUS you should expect nothing less than a great motherboard with a great feature set. Well, the P6X58-WS has several, beginning with the G.P. Diagnosis card. This little card has a digital readout that reports on POST status, and if there are any errors it will indicate where that problem occured. Coupled with the onboard Diag. LED feature, this also will aid a technician in finding out just what is keeping the system from operating correctly during boot up. The P6X58-E WS is a nice step up from the previous ASUS workstation model with its offering of SuperSpeed and SATA-III support. Support for higher speeds are always a good thing when it comes to workstations or server based systems, since as they say "Time is Money." The dual Intel NICs is something ASUS is very proud of,nd as a customer you should as well. This is great for VMware applications with it support for virtualization. The ASUS P6X58-E WS is a great motherboard which would be out of the class of many of us but it is definitely a great product for those that do need such a motherboard. At $300 the motherboard is not terribly over-priced, considering it´s X58 based and the features it offers, so a high power system could be built at a relatively moderate price.
