Praktycznie każdy powietrzny schładzacz kosztujący 250–300 zł (a nawet kilka tańszych) pokonuje je, a co więcej, zwykle przy mniejszej głośności. Widać to zwłaszcza w teście z użyciem podkręconego procesora. Phenom X4 9850, z którego korzystamy, jest bardzo gorącym układem, ale z pewnością niejeden mocno podkręcony Core i7 będzie pobierał jeszcze więcej energii, a to zdecydowanie nie działa na korzyść Hydro. W przypadku chłodzenia powietrznego można bardzo prosto poprawić wentylację obudowy, a to da wymierne efekty. W przypadku zestawów chłodzenia cieczą efekty takiego działania będą znacznie słabsze i w zasadzie niewiele można już zrobić, by zwiększyć wydajność (może z wyjątkiem trzymania chłodnicy w lodówce :)). Jednak oba urządzenia mają swoje zalety. Są znacznie mniej wrażliwe na wentylację wewnątrz obudowy niż tradycyjne schładzacze, ponieważ powietrze pobierane jest z zewnątrz. Może to być dość istotnym argumentem dla posiadaczy starszych modeli, niepozwalających zainstalować kilku wentylatorów. Niezaprzeczalną zaletą Hydro jest także to, że pozostawiają w obudowie dużo wolnego miejsca i nie blokują możliwości użycia np. RAM-u o wysokim radiatorze. Nie ma także problemu z wysokością schładzacza wieżowego: Hydro zmieszczą się do każdej obudowy wyposażonej w miejsce na 12-centymetrowy wentylator na tylnej lub wierzchniej ściance (to w zasadzie jedyne wymaganie, jeśli chodzi o instalację). Montaż obu modeli jest dość prosty, choć trzeba dokładnie przeanalizować dołączone instrukcje. Niestety, jeśli obudowa nie ma dziury w stelażu trzymającym płytę główną, konieczne będzie rozebranie całego komputera, jednak jest to typowe także w przypadku dobrej klasy tradycyjnych schładzaczy mocowanych z użyciem płytki zakładanej od spodu płyty głównej. Gdybyśmy byli zdecydowani na Corsair Hydro, to przy obecnych cenach: ok. 250 zł za H50, ok. 340 zł za H70, wybralibyśmy ten drugi, ponieważ w zestawie fabrycznym jest zdecydowanie wydajniejszy. Grubsza chłodnica daje znacznie większy zapas mocy dla podkręconego Core i7 niż H50. To przy chłodzeniu cieczą niesamowicie ważne, bo raz przegrzana woda może być zbyt gorąca przez wiele minut. Naszym zdaniem stosunkowo nieduża różnica w cenie przemawia właśnie na korzyść H70, tym bardziej że do H50 producent dołączył tylko jeden wentylator.

Zitat: Head to head, the H50 and ECO are very similar, but there are many differences that make me still lean one way versus the other. Temperatures are almost a dead heat when the processor is loaded, so I award no favorable points to either cooler on this subject. I feel the same way about the noise levels. While the Corsair does edge out the CoolIT solution out of the box, we all know that will last for like the first week, maybe, until “tinkering” begins. So with those out of the way and still no clear leader, I have to go deeper to make an actual decision as to which I would actually buy with my hard earned dollars. First off, I will go to the most obvious components that the everyday user will have to deal with just to get either product in your chassis. Starting with the most fundamental, let’s go with the mounting. The Corsair offers a ring with keys on tabs that lock the ring into the head unit. Simply slide the ring over the unit using the keyways to pass the ring over the “latches”, then turn the ring slightly to align the tabs into the headunit. Easy, right? - Not exactly, the rest of the hardware is where things get tricky. Adding the correct clips, using the right screws for said clips and any mistake in these steps adds time for tearing all your work back down. Lastly, I found the nuts to the backing plate to be loose and with everything going on up top I dropped those nuts uncountable times in the assembly process. In contrast, here is where the ECO steps leaps and bounds over the Corsair H50. The ECO is simple! Pick the AMD or Intel mounts, four screws to swap out the legs (AMD only, ships with Intel mounted), add a back plate and screw in some thumbscrews. How tough is that? Beyond that, I really liked the fact that even during load testing of the ECO, the head unit never seemed to get warm. I mean it was warm, but not where I would consider it oddly warm, or near hot. I can’t say the same for my H50. During even idle testing I could feel that the pump was adding plenty of heat to the loop, not something I particularly want and something CoolIT found a solution for. Other than that, the CoolIT just feels beefier, or better built. In the end I am torn. I can’t pick a winner based on performance, so I have to go with ease of use and compatibility and that makes me want to spend my money in that direction. To be fair, with all the fundamentals being equal, minus the head unit and mounting, it is a dead draw. You already know what my money is going on, but based on local availability I won’t steer you from grabbing a Corsair H50, as it does its intended job admirably.

Nicht so bei dem System von Corsair! Man setzt auf bewährte Technik aus dem Hause Asetek und präsentiert zum Preis einer High-End Luftkühlung eine vollwertige Wasserkühlung, welche es sogar mit vergleichbaren Selbstbauprojekten aufnehmen kann. Die Montage geht leicht von der Hand, nur der Radiator muss wohl überlegt platziert werden. Dazu ist das System robust und haltbar. Im Gegensatz zu einer normalen Wasserkühlung ist hier keine Wartung nötig und auch nicht möglich. Nur schade, dass das System nicht erweiterbar ist. Besonders die Kombination mit einer Kühlung der Grafikkarte und eventuell der Northbridge (siehe Temperaturen) wäre optimal. Die Corsair H50 Wasserkühlung bekommt daher verdient den Silent Award, aber für Gold reicht es leider nicht. Der einzige Punkt, der dagegen spricht, ist die für ein Anfängerset notwendige Demontage des Mainboards.

The system itself is nice and compact, combining the pump and block into one unit, and having the radiator and lines sealed and pre-filled requires no setup and in fact no maintenance done by the end user. It is definitely one of the easiest ways for someone to get into a liquid cooling environment without having to learn how to assemble a system from components in the process. The performance of the H50 is on par and possibly even slightly better than other high end air coolers, and certainly operates much quieter than those utilizing high speed fans. The only downside that I saw from the H50 installation was having to assemble the mounting hardware, and that the combination of fan and pump takes up two fan headers on your motherboard. Also having to give up the rear or top location as an exhaust port and turning it into an intake port as recommended by Corsair may cause you to have to rethink your case airflow design. But other than those few small points the installation is relatively painless and there´s no arguing with the results. The other thing that Corsair has going for it is the price. I found the H50 available at numerous retailers online in the $70-$80 range, almost half the price that the NorthQ Siberian Tiger was selling for last year, if you could even find it here in the US. That puts it well within reach of the average consumer looking for an alternative to the oversized and expensive high end tower style air coolers, without sacrificing ease of installation or maintenance-free operation.
