Test: Einzeltest: Silverstone Grandia GD05 HTPC Case
Zitat: The SilverStone Grandia GD05 is a great SFF HTPC case that packs a lot of stuff into a very small space. Although it requires using a micro-ATX motherboard, it will fit a standard size power supply and even a full length video card, possibly even two. The brushed aluminum appearance of the front bezel will let the GD05 look right at home in most any entertainment center, and the incredibly short 12.8" depth ensures you won´t be left with part of the case hanging out the front. It has the best cooling ability I´ve ever seen in an HTPC case, with three 120mm fans provided and the option to add two more 80mm fans in the rear. The fans run extremely quiet, they´re rated at only 20dB, and make excellent use of airflow, directing it where it´s needed and exhausting it all out the rear. Golf ball dimpled fan blades, rubber power supply spacers and grommet inserts for the hard drives help keep noise to a minimum. The ability to mix and match 2½" and 3½" hard drives is a great feature. Although most will likely stick with traditional hard drives for their greater capacity in an HTPC case, some may opt to choose an SSD for the system drive. While the spartan front bezel helps the GD05 looks, and typically no more than a single 5¼" optical drive is needed, an eSATA port would have been appreciated. This could always be added later however, particularly since there´s a perfect spot for it in the spare slot above the power supply. The only other complaint I had was how the filters are attached to the fans. You´ll have to open the case and remove both drive brackets to get to them for cleaning. The bottom filter thankfully can be serviced from outside the case. I found the GD05 available online for right around $100 which seems like a good deal to me. Compared to the GD02 even this is about 33% less and down in the range of what some mid-tower enclosures are going for now. What you get is a great looking, high quality HTPC case that doesn´t require any special hardware, has awesome cooling ability and should fit in just about any home theater setting. OCIA.net has awarded the SilverStone Grandia GD05 case our Gold Seal of Approval.
