Testurteil: "Average"
Test: Einzeltest: Transcend SDXC 64GB Class 10
Zitat: Positive: + Fastest sequential write speed we have seen with an SD card.
+ Read performance also very fast, faster than any of our SD card readers are able to handle.
+ Very large capacity for an SD card, making even a 50GB dual-layer Blu-ray disc look ridiculously large in comparison!
+ Less than half the price of most other Class 10 rated 64GB SDXC cards.
Negative: - Write performance sharply falls off with free space fragmentation.
- Unable to keep up with a 34Mb (4.2MB/s) realtime recording with significant free space fragmentation.
- Poor write performance with individual files, especially with files smaller than 10MB.
- Card only meets its Class 10 rating with sequential writing and very light to no free space fragmentation.
One of the main things we learned with this review is that the Class rating on an SD card is practically useless at telling how the card will perform in real-life, much like the read/write speeds stated on Solid State Disk drives. In fact, the comparison Class 4 card we included in this review was quicker in every test throughout this review apart from where we tested sequential write performance using a large video file. When it came to video recording tests, the card was unable to keep up with the camera’s ~34Mb MJPEG HD recording once it had a certain amount of free space fragmentation. As each deleted pictured results in another free space fragment, for those who plan using this card for recording in HD, especially Full HD footage, we would strongly recommend not deleting any photos until the card is ready to be offloaded onto a computer, apart from deleting the last taken photo for a retake. With 64GB of storage space and a potential capacity for 12,000 photos (based on ~5MB/photo), there is little need to delete unwanted photos to free space. On the other hand, deleting video footage should be ok, since deleted videos will result in much larger fragments of free space, which are unlikely to cause a significant drop in write performance. For those interested in looking for a fast large capacity card for continuous shooting, such as sports or wild life photography, unfortunately this card is not a fast performer for writing individual files, even when freshly formatted. Even when writing relatively large RAW files of roughly 10MB in size, the card only managed to sustain a write transfer rate of roughly 7MB/s, whereas the Silicon Power 32GB Class 10 SDHC card we included in this review achieved over double this rate at ~15MB/s.
