Optisch macht es einen sehr guten Eindruck, die komplette Verarbeitung ist sehr sauber und alle Kabel sind gesleevt und gut verarbeitet. Das duale PCB-Layout optimiert die Kühlwirkung und lässt damit auch die Verwendung von Hochleistungskomponenten zu. Das Preisleistungsverhältnis ist ebenfalls super, denn man bekommt ein 850 Watt Netzteil für unter 100 Euro. Dafür handelt es sich bei dem Antec allerdings auch nicht um ein reines Kabelmanagement Netzteil. Durch seinen Bruch mit den größenbeschränkenden Vorgaben standardisierter Netzteile bringt das CP-850-Design auch einen Nachteil mit sich; denn so passt es nicht in jedes Gehäuse was unbedingt beim Kauf beachtet werden sollte.

The power consumption is a little higher than it could be but looking at the bigger picture it’s pretty insignificant. The unit is clearly right up there with a Signature unit which has been highly praised and this is no mean feat. One thing that could prove to be a problem is the new form factor though. It will require one of only three cases (modding aside) to install it in which really narrows down the choice. And, this means that although the unit only costs about £100, an Antec case to mount it in will cost at least another £100 – suddenly it doesn’t seem like such great value for money. That said, the unit is pretty damn awesome – it certainly looks the part in its matte black casing. Add to that some brilliant rail voltages, solid PF ratings and a little bit of Antec magic and you have a winner for sure.

This power supply has a very good efficiency between 84.6% and 85.8% if you pull up to 60% from its labeled capacity (i.e. up to 510 W). If you pull 80% of its maximum capacity (i.e. 680 W) efficiency was still decent at 82.7%. But at full load (850 W) efficiency dropped to 79.5%. This is not necessarily a problem, as high-wattage power supplies are meant for you to run them at half their maximum capacity (click here to understand this). It can truly deliver 850 W at 48.9º C, which is great. Voltage stability was impressive and noise and ripple were at very low levels all the times. After collecting data we were sure that we were facing a power supply on the USD 180+ range. After we researched it at Newegg we were shocked: it costs only USD 135 – half the price of the Antec Signature 850 W. There is only one – literally big – drawback. This power supply only fits a few cases from Antec (Twelve Hundred, P183 and P193). Nothing is perfect. This is a great power supply, not only performance-wise, but also price-wise, however you must have one of these three cases to use it. If you do, here is the bottom line: buy this power supply.
