It examines the various socioeconomic, historic, political and environmental forces that help explain city form and presents some prominent examples of sites and cities from ancient times to the present. It also tries to answer some questions concerning the social contribution of city planning, the effect that it has on people's behavior and the relationship that it had with 'civilizing' the community and shaping its character. The book is particularly useful for those, who are interested in the history of city planning and students, who are studying architectural history or planning history.
LAP LAMBERT Academic Publishing Deota, N: Effective Leadership Qualities A1024225641
This study highlights the characteristics of an effective leadership behavior of the secondary school principals. The role of principal is very crucial in shaping the destiny of the young ones-the coming generation. Principal's leadership roles, administrative roles, innovativeness and his high value system / profile, all make him the most effective leader. Leadership's real test lays in the expertise in the three major areas viz. his decision making ability, his communication skills and his conflict resolution or problem solving abilities. But the most crucial role in making a leader most effective is played by the value-system he adopts. It is, in fact, his initiation and consideration dimensions of leadership which allot him the title of a "HH pattern" leader-the most effective one in comparison with "LL pattern";leader who is low in initiation and low in consideration dimension of leader.
LAP LAMBERT Academic Publishing Bernaldez, P: Shamanism in the Philippines A1023885419

LAP LAMBERT Academic Publishing Ndoda, G: Strategy-Structure-Performance: Empirical Evidence A1023374255
This book seeks to think through the problems faced by the Tourism and Hospitality Industry firms undertaking international tourism in terms of strategy-structure fit as a precursor of performance. The perspective of this book is that of strategy-structure-performance (SSP) of a firm as being very important in order to gain competitive advantage and to improve firm performance. The point of departure is the ground breaking use of empirical evidence from the Zimbabwean Tourism and Hospitality sector adjusted to the African reality, illustrating SSP Paradigm and the inherent lessons in strategic management, as opposed to many that exclusively look at challenges from a neoliberal and classical Eurocentric angle. This book was crafted with to fully engage students in the task of learning what every aspiring manager needs to know about the theory and practice of strategic management and to provide an attractive set of contemporary cases that involve headline strategic issues and that give students ample opportunities to apply what they read in the chapters.
LAP LAMBERT Academic Publishing Tyagi, N: Novel Cardiac Biomarkers A1056434184
The concept of the cardiovascular continuum, introduced during the early 1990s, created a holistic view of the chain of events connecting cardiovascular-related risk factors with the progressive development of pathological-related tissue remodelling and ultimately, heart failure and death. Understanding of the tissue-specific changes, and new technologies developed over the last 25-30 years, enabled tissue remodelling events to be monitored in vivo and cardiovascular disease to be diagnosed more reliably than before. The tangible product of this evolution was the introduction of a number of biochemical markers such as troponin I and T, which are now commonly used in clinics to measure myocardial damage. However, biomarkers that can detect specific earlier stages of the cardiovascular continuum have yet to be generated and utilised. The majority of the existing markers are useful only in the end stages of the disease where few successful intervention options exist.
LAP LAMBERT Academic Publishing Sakthivel, M: Webcasters' Protection in Copyright A1023155305
Since the 4th Generation Peer 2 Peer technology (4G P2P) resembles with broadcasting, some of the developed countries demanded international protection to the 4G P2P similar to the one, enjoyed by the traditional broadcasters since the technology seems to be same that of broadcasting. Thus 4G P2P was included in the ongoing discussion in WIPO on the traditional broadcasting issues. The SCCR proposed some set of rights to the webcasters. However most of the members opposed such inclusion and they demanded the separation of the new technology and its copyright protection from the present ongoing discussion on the traditional broadcasting issues. Due to this reason, the new technology and issues associated with it have been kept away from the present ongoing discussion. This works attempt to study the technology in order to understand the nature of the new technology and analyses that whether traditional broadcasters, rights can be extended to the webcasters?
LAP LAMBERT Academic Publishing Mishra, P: Institutional Delivery In India A1022671880
Uttar Pradesh is known to have a very poor level of maternal health as compared to the other states in India. The state stands at a fairly low level of institutional delivery and has very high maternal mortality, as compared to the national average. The rate of utilization of the institutions for delivery care varies across the regions of the state as well as across the sections of the population. The decision to deliver in a supervised or institutional setting is influenced by a vector of factors including the availability of the requisite health institutions and accessibility and the socio-economic conditions of the women. The possible causes of low level of institutional deliveries in Uttar Pradesh may be either the supply side (health services, public or private) or the demand side (individual and household socioeconomic factors). The studies done till now have covered primarily the demand side constraints but the reach of the state's program has received less attention. This book tries to look at the problem of low utilization of maternal health care services through a broader framework including both the demand and the supply side variables.
LAP LAMBERT Academic Publishing Khan, F: Spice associated Bacteria A1027146746
The research project was designed to isolate bacteria associated with common spices. Spices are vegetable products or mixtures, free from extraneous matter, used for flavouring, seasoning or imparting aroma in foods. Many of the spices are used fresh without any form of processing and any undesirable organisms associated with these spices may pose threat to the consumers. Particularly under humid tropical conditions where public health management is not so efficient these organisms may be a matter of concern.

LAP LAMBERT Academic Publishing Amur, K: Topics in Differential Geometry A1021306885
We consider a Lorentz transformation in which the moving frame moves with uniform velocity in an arbitrary direction. Transformation matrix for such a transformation is found in the book of Misner et al and also that of Weinberg. We use this matrix to show that the volume element and a differential operator are invariant. We use these in turn to define other differential operators in an invariant manner. These operators are used in the study of electromagnetism. Another topic that may find application to topics in physical sciences is 'Irrotational vectorfields on a Surface in Euclidean space'. It is shown that parallel surfaces preserve such a vectorfield and also that every real valued differentiable function on a sphere generates an irrotational vectorfield. A change of metric of a 2-dimensional Riemannian manifold leads to an invariant tensorfield, the vanishing of which leads to the conclusion that the geometrical object represented by the manifold is a torus. A parametric hyper-helicoid with Weierstrass type representation is another significant topic discussed in some detail.
