LAP LAMBERT Academic Publishing Jari, R: Superconvergence Of Finite Element Approximations F A1028594980
The finite element method (FEM) is a discretization technique for solving partial differential equations. It widely used in many fields of engineering such as computational fluid dynamics. The superconvergence of finite element solutions is an interesting and useful phenomenon in the scientific computing of real world problems and has become an area of active research in recent years. A general superconvergence of discontinuous Galerkin finite element method for the elliptic problem is established by using L^2-projection method. Regularity assumptions for the elliptic problem with regular partitions are required. Numerical experiments are given to verify the theoretical results.

LAP LAMBERT Academic Publishing Alam, S: Formulation and Evaluation of Berberine Nanogel A1056372182
The present study aims to develop and evaluate the permeation as well as anti-microbial activity of developed nanogel of berberine. The incorporation of berberine inside a nanogel should improve berberine stability and permeability. Berberine is a natural polyphenolic agent with promising anti- inflammatory and anti-microbial activity. However, the therapeutic efficacy was challenged in clinical trials mostly due to its low solubility. We design berberine loaded carbopol-934 nanogel to make it stable and substantially enhances cellular permeability. Pseudoternary phase diagram is constructed to obtain the nanoemulsion region. It is popular amongst the general population in regions all over the world. Carbopol-934 is added as gelling agent. Oil in water nanoemulsion was prepared by the self-nanoemulsification method, using Tween 80 and Carbitol as surfactant and cosurfactant using an oil phase of oleic acid. Evaluation of the nanoemulsion included analysis of particle size, polydispersity index, zeta potential, physical stability, and morphology. A modified vertical Franz diffusion cell and diffusion membrane were used to study the in vitro permeation.

An intervention study was carried out among 100 medical students in Delhi to assess the effect of educational booklet on knowledge and attitude about depression. Data was analyzed and statistical significance was determined using Mc nemar test and Chi square test. Significant improvement was noticed on various aspects of depression like knowledge about causes, symptoms, treatment etc. Most common reasons for not seeking help were lack of understanding by other people, lack of confidentiality, social stigma and fear of rejection. Majority of students accepted the booklet. It is concluded that the booklet improved their knowledge to a great extent. Hence educational intervention materials should be promoted to help students to identify and understand the depression which will improve their health seeking behavior.
LAP LAMBERT Academic Publishing Garg, S: Formulation and Characterization of Floating Tablet A1023579489
The present work focuses on the development of hydrodynamically balanced delivery system of Aceclofenac as a single-unit floating Tablet. Floating effervescent tablets were formulated by various materials like. HPMC, K4M, K 15M, psyllium husk, swelling agent as crospovidone and micro crystalline cellulose and gas generating agent like sodium bicarbonate and citric acid. Floating non effervescent tablets were prepared by polypropylene foam powder and different matrix forming polymers. The prepared floating tablets were evaluated for various Parameter. The formulation was optimized on the basis of in vitro buoyancy and in vitro release By fitting the data into different models, we concluded that the mechanism of release of Aceclofenac from the floating tablet was anomalous diffusion transport and follows zero order kinetics, Stability studies revealed that formulations were stable when stored at different temperatures and the values were within permissible limits. X ray imaging studies results showed that tablet was float more than 8 h in gastric region of the Albino rabbits.
LAP LAMBERT Academic Publishing Basiri, A: Options for improving irrigation water allocation A1023846113
This study investigates cropping system options in relation to irrigation water scarcity by improving water allocation in an attempt to maximize Net Economic Return (NER) and calorific production. Crop Water Requirement (CWR) and Irrigation Water Requirement (IWR) are estimated for common crops in a case study base in the Hari Rod river basin of Afghanisatn using the CROPWAT model. The current field situation considering water availability and farmer agricultural management practices is quantified in term of demand and supply of water, and compared to actual crop water requirement. Furthermore a simple optimization model is developed using linear programming to identify the cropping system options, through the maximization of NER and calorific production. Findings indicate that planting the full range of common crops with deficit irrigation result in high calorific production. However, restricting crops to those that are more water demanding significantly increases the Net Economic Return.
LAP LAMBERT Academic Publishing Sengupta, A: EI and Alexithymia: Implications in Indian Orga A1023001147
Lord Krishna in Bhagabad Gita suggested individuals to practice 'Sthitaprajjna' and 'Chitta Samatta' -- the way of balancing rationality & emotionality to win over. Mind is the sole power of human being. It will act accordingly the way one will feed it. Integrating logic and emotions to respond to the situational demand is crucial in effective decision making. This leads to success in professional as well as personal lives. Some individuals, on the other hand, are found to be emotionally dumb in this world of emotions. They are unable to deal with emotions properly. They are known as alexithymics. The book focuses on the implications of emotional intelligence and alexithymia on decision making in Indian organisations.

The major findings of the study was that there is a mixed reaction among the retailers towards allowing FDI in multi- brand retail, a majority of them seems to directly or indirectly prefer the entry of foreign players. However the respondents prefer a calibrated and cautious approach towards the introduction of FDI thereby safeguarding the interests of small retailers.
LAP LAMBERT Academic Publishing Baskar, K: Impact of Tannery Industry on Livelihoods A1020381723
Palar River is the source of drinking water for 30 towns and 50 villages on its banks and also used for the cultivation purpose. The tanneries present on the banks allowed effluents in the Palar River, which has become more polluted recently and no longer useful for drinking or agricultural purposes. Due to pollution, peoples around the river are suffering from a number of diseases such as asthma, skin disease and stomach ailment and thousands acres of fertile land have become wasteland and no more used for cultivation (Vellore environmental profile). Palar River was reported as one of the most polluted places of world by Blacksmith Institute in 2006, which are heavily contaminated with salts and heavy metals especially Chromium. Metals contamination is one of the major environmental problems in many countries and these contaminants generally come from various industries like leather, agricultural, textile industries etc. The most commonly occurring metals at these sites are lead, chromium, arsenic, zinc, cadmium, copper, and mercury. Presence of these metals in groundwater and soils may cause a significant threat to human health and ecological systems.

LAP LAMBERT Academic Publishing Rahman, H: Micropropagation of Elite Genotypes of Banana A1023686234
Micropropagation from shoot tips of one-month-old suckers of six banana cultivars and subsequent field evaluation for commercial exploitation, were studied. Among the various growth regulators, the medium with 5 mg/l BAP was found to be the most effective for micropropagation. Among the six banana cultivars, Sabari (AAB genome) was the most responsive genotype to micropropagation. Micropropagated plants of all cultivars showed significantly superior performances for yield and yield contributing characters over sucker-derived plants. In the second part induction of callus from the male flowers and subsequent somatic embryogenesis were tested. Among the different media formulations, the medium fortified with 4 mg/l 2,4-D + 1 mg/l each of IAA, NAA and biotin was found to be the most effective growth regulator formulation for callus induction and growth. Among the five cultivars male flowers of Sabari were found to show the highest response to callus induction and subsequent embryo formation. Somatic embryo derived plants of all banana cultivars at maturity exhibited wide range of variation in yield and yield contributing characters.

LAP LAMBERT Academic Publishing Atabani, A: Energy Economical and Environmental Analysis of A1024997415
In 1985 Malaysia has changed from agricultural into industrial based economy. The industrial sector represents the highest consuming sector across all other sectors and accounts for about 48% of total energy demand. This study is concerned with an energy saving, economic and environmental analysis of industrial boilers in Malaysia. There are three principles that have been investigated: Installation of variable speed drive; fuels switching between diesel and other types of fuels such as natural gas and biomass; and installation of heat recovery systems in these boilers. After implementation of VSD, the results obtained when reducing the speed of water pumps by 60% show that 4 GWh, 93.6% of energy, RM 863,375 and 2,160 ton of CO2 could be saved annually which all represent high energy saving, environmental and economic benefits. Also it has been found that when switching between diesel fuel and biomass gas by a percentage of 50% for both instead of using 100% of diesel fuel, 11,946 ton of CO2 and RM 1,872,532 could be saved annually. Finally installation of economizer has proven its viability with 2,529,779 KWh energy saving, RM 238,573 bill saving and 2,150 ton of CO2 per annul.
LAP LAMBERT Academic Publishing Chum, S: NGO Coordination and Cambodia's Aid Effectiveness A1011744848
Cambodia is one of the poorest and most aid- dependent countries in Southeast Asia. Historically NGOs have operated in Cambodia since the collapse of the Khmer Rouge regime in 1979. Since the Paris Peace Accord Agreement, signed by the Cambodian leaders in 1991, the number of NGOs has grown rapidly and played a pivotal role in delivering public services and advocacy. In an effort to improve efficiencies and effectiveness aid delivery mechanisms have become extraordinarily complex and cumbersome. They require all parties to have strong coordination efforts within their individual groups and amongst broader stakeholders. This thesis analyses the effectiveness of NGO coordination in Cambodia. It is based on recently completed in-country research involving participant observation and a series of semi-structured interviews. The findings indicate that the NGO coordination efforts have encountered a series of challenges. These include cultural, political and institutional challenges and poor NGO coordination between national and provincial levels. There are, however, some opportunities for improvement through creating an environment that enables policy dialogue with the government.

Homelessness is a problem everywhere and homeless people are deprived of their rights at every point of time. Right to Housing till Right to Private Life, Right to Vote have been taken away from them at every point of time. Many a times they have tried to interact with people but even there the humiliation they get make them even more irritated towards us. Interviews with several homeless people revealed that they are not satisfied with this world and the ill treatment they got from every person and every passer- by has created a sense of hatred towards the common people. Even when people have tried to interact with them ,their rude behaviour have pinched more because we all know that we are the responsible ones for their deteriorating condition. Many authors and people have tried to reveal their condition but IS THE GOVERNMENT AWARE OF IT?
LAP LAMBERT Academic Publishing Ibrahim, M: Bone Mineral Density and Atherosclerosis in Post A1029403857
The relationship between Bone mineral density (BMD) and atherosclerosis in older postmenopausal women is a subject of increasing concern because of the great importance of atherosclerotic diseases in later life and the need to identify its potentially modifiable risk factors. This thesis was carried on 150 ambulant postmenopausal women apparently healthy (aging from 55 years old and above) in Ain Shams University Hospitals, Cairo, Egypt. Measurement of BMD of lumbar spine and femur neck by DEXA scan and measurement of intima-media thickness of both common and internal carotid arteries by ultrasonography with assessment of plaques and the degree of stenosis (if present) were carried out. The results of this study revealed that there is a statistically significant positive relation between the presence of plaques in carotid arteries and low BMD of both lumbar spine and femur neck. Multinomial logistic regression analysis showed that after controlling for age and duration of menopause; osteoporosis of femur neck could be used as a predictor for atherosclerotic plaques in postmenopausal women.
