LAP LAMBERT Academic Publishing Isaic-Maniu, A: Reliability and its Quantitative Measures A1021728309
Inspired by the domain of demography, reliability theory adopted and adapted the main indicator used there, namely the rate of mortality which is in fact the ratio between the number of deceased persons at the time and the number of survivors at the same moment. In a reliability framework, the mortality rate became hazard or failure rate where the "persons" (living beings) are replaced by objects (components, subassemblies and systems). The theory of reliability deals with all aspects of this process of failure, trying to construct formal or mathematical models for this random phenomenon. In a broader sense, a failure may be defined as an incident or a situation /condition that causes for a product a process or a service an undesired status when the intended purposes are not performed safely, secure and cost-effectively.
LAP LAMBERT Academic Publishing Hassan, E: Interactions between siderophore producing microo A1028641758
Iron represents an essential nutrient for all living organisms. It is a component of many cellular structures and also necessary for metabolic processes. Iron nutrition is particularly important for leguminous plants as it plays a vital role in nodule formation, N2-fixation and plant growth. Under iron limited conditions, some microorganisms and plants are able to evolve low molecular weight iron chelators called siderophores. These biological chelators are strongly involved in competition of iron nutrition and in biocontrol of phytopathogenic fungi by sequestering iron and thereby inhibiting their growth or metabolic activity. The results presented in this book aimed to study the interactions between siderophore producing microorganisms in the rhizosphere.
LAP LAMBERT Academic Publishing Bengherbia, T: Ram Accelerator in Sub-Detonative Velocity Re A1024399160
The purpose of this work is to examine in detail the flow field characteristics of the thermally choked ram accelerator, a novel concept of space launcher. The data derived from these CFD calculations were used to implement a one-dimensional computer code, which has been developed to predict the thrust of this vehicle. The predicted thrust and velocity agree well with values derived from representative experiments at the University of Washington 38-mm-bore facility. The code, which requires simple data input and very low computer capabilities, provides an easy and rapid access to the prediction of the ram accelerator performance in this combustion regime, over a wide range of mixture compositions and fill pressures. This book is a useful guide for students and research scientists addressing CFD simulations. For faculty use, it provides advanced elements of thermochemistry involving real gas equations of state and it shows how to optimize the calculation procedures in 2D reacting flows.
LAP LAMBERT Academic Publishing Naval Submarine Body Form Design and Hydrodynamics A1046420623
The focus of this book is on the naval submarine body form design and related hydrodynamic effects. This book can help us to optimize the body form such as bow, stern, sailing, L/D ratio et.al. for minimizing the hydrodynamic resistance. Parallel middle body submarines are studied here. The safe and calm depth for earning fully submerged conditions, away from free surface effect and ocean waves are studied too. In this section, some new important criteria for evaluating the seakeeping performance of a naval submarine are presented. The specifications and advantages of the innovative plan and patent of "Moon-Korol" system for minimizing the wave effects on submarine motions at snorting depth are discussed. The wall effect due to moving a submarine close to the sea bottom or a torpedo inside a torpedo tube on the lift and resistance forces is evaluated too.

LAP LAMBERT Academic Publishing Bagchi, B: Approaches to Working Capital Management A1027789346
This book aims to explore the impact of components of working capital management on profitability of Indian FMCG firms for ten years period from 2000-01 to 2009-10. Working capital management is considered to be a vital issue in financial management decision and it affects both liquidity and profitability of the firm. Apart from using Pearson's and Spearman's correlation analysis, panel data regression analysis like pooled OLS model and fixed effect LSDV model are employed in the study. Like previous authors, our study results reveal a sturdy negative association between working capital management variables and firms' profitability. The results of our study also indicate the better explanatory power of fixed effect LSDV model than that of pooled OLS model.

LAP LAMBERT Academic Publishing Shahani, A: Genetic Algorithm for VLSI Floorplanning A1024828972
VLSI design suffers from high design complexity and a large number of optimization objectives requiring hierarchical design approaches and multi-objective optimization techniques. The floorplanning stage of the design cycle becomes highly important in hierarchical design methods. The classical floor planning techniques use block packing to minimize chip area, by making use of algorithms like B-TREE representation, simulated annealing. To get an optimal solution it is imperative to choose an efficient algorithm. In this work, a genetic algorithm based floorplanner has been developed.
LAP LAMBERT Academic Publishing Khorashadizadeh, S: Improved Hough Transform Algorithm in Ir A1034120768
The security is an important aspect in our daily life whichever the system is considered, security plays vital role. The biometric person identification technique based on the pattern of human iris is suitable to be applied to access control and provides strong e-security. Iris recognition is one of important biometric recognition approaches in human identification is very active topic in research and practical application. Iris Recognition System consists of Acquisition, Localization, Feature Extraction and Feature Matching phases. Circular Hough Transform is one the best suitable algorithm in segmentation phase, but as a result of having two for-loops in its structure; CHT algorithm consumes high time processing and uses high storage capacity. These drawbacks make it hardly appropriate for real time applications of iris recognition system. To improve time and storage complexity, firstly, a pre-processing of CUHK iris image dataset is done to eliminate unnecessarily regions and secondly, a radius table is created based on pupil size variation of CUHK iris image dataset. The results show at least 40% efficiency in time complexity and minimum 20% efficiency in storage complexity.
LAP LAMBERT Academic Publishing Ahmad, S: Kashmir Issue and Its Solution A1029403933
In the post military situation in Kashmir a number of factors both locally and at the international level impacted the relations between the two countries and the regional context within which these relations operated. It began with the end of cold war and emergence of the unipolar global order. In 1998 the two countries tested their nuclear arsenal and emerged as de facto nuclear powers. Subsequently, the developments of 9/11 have had tremendous impact on how violent political movements were to be judged and dealt at global level. It was within this context that many people started highlighting the value of resolving conflicts and building peace for the greater good of the region. In this context one of the important and latest proposals came from General Pervez Musharraf. His Four-Point proposal of identifying regions, demilitarizing the identified regions, introducing self-rule and developing a joint mechanism is being debated and discussed within the political circles. However, the question is how much acceptability this 'Formula' enjoys with the people of Kashmir. Any solution to Kashmir will be valid only if it is going to be accepted by the people of Kashmir, primarily.
LAP LAMBERT Academic Publishing Selvaraj, Y: Workload Manager for Webservices in Distributed A1023686306
This book mainly focuses on integrating the web services based on distributed workload sharing environment. The objective of the included project is to develop the web service console in which we can distribute work to various nodes and monitor the web services performance located in distributed environment. The console is mainly used to manage the web services that are located in various places. For e.g. if a request from the client is processed by the web services then the console will monitor those actively performing web service and after the job completes the status will be indicated as completed. Based on input, the web services are chosen for manipulation and hence the console will automatically load the input to web services and obtain the output, we add a BPEL code to do the web services choreography. The orchestration is another important goal of the project. We show in this project, the orchestration between two public bio-informatics web services and the developed console that allows a safer collaboration between Web services with respect to integration where there is consideration of the input as criteria for allocating tasks.
